I always thought the "updated" banjo bolt was straight through in design due to that ball dislodging and going into the intake manifold and into a combustion chamber or have I got it wrong?

The latest revision has the check ball and (from what I've read) it has an improved retention design to keep the check ball in place so it never gets sucked into the engine. I recall reading the previous design with the check valve had a weakness with the retention method that could fail and allow the check ball to enter the engine.
