ifixit repair link
I find it odd that these links appear to be an advertisement for a business, but when you visit the site you are forbidden if you are using AdBlock. Doesn't strike me as a good sales strategy to block potential customers. Either you're making money by servicing or selling electronic modules, or you are making money showing extraneous advertisements.
I'm interested in one but not the other.
Additionally, both links send you to a WW7 address which the browser indicates is not secure. Google search indicates that WW7 means that you are being redirected to a random server in a system of shared servers.
I'm not an internet expert, but I would be reluctant to do business with such a site.

The yellow labels are contact wiper type. The later white labels are contactless

I can't at the top of my head remember if I was for sure a white label or a yellow label with a white sticker. All I remember is on the sticker it was written 05w<XX> presumably indicating a 2005 model ETM. I had the ETM off and I remember that the two adjacent sensors looked different. One looked visibly newer, less worn and had a green marker/dot on it(while still labeled Magnetti Marelli on it).
I do remember I had a long white sticker saying that the ETM now has a new part number and I think to the right was a white sticker, so two white stickers. Is it possible at some point it was recalled and replaced with a contactless sensor? I'd imagine from 2005 to 2023 it would've failed already?

Once again- you are giving me the info that I need.abscate wrote: ↑14 Sep 2019, 12:27 A yellow label Volvo ETM was exactly the same as the original design. Most cars will use two in their lifetime, but the Xemodex one is half the price of the Volvo so I think most go that route
I just reached 100k on my second ETM, the first one went 140k. I’m hoping to take this one to 300k with good behavior. My parts car had 200k on the original white label ETM and that one is still in service on another car.
I have a white label in my 99 S70 GLT. I was getting the occasional TPS code that would clear and go away.
But recently - erratic idle and occasional loss in power at speed- now throwing an ETM code about twice a month.
Two questions- Could I have a bad TPS that is causing this and is this the model that has the TPS sensor located on the outside-
that quick and cheap Bosch for like 40.00 on FCP.
Thanks!

[You dont have a separate (cheap) TPS on a 1999, thats why they are special.
The wipers in the ETM are the things that tell the ECM the throttle position.
Gather your pennies and look for the white label, late model ETM on ebay - $150-200 and four bolts.
30 minutes for a NA, 300 minutes for any turbo (like a GLT)

I do have a turbo.
Is it that much harder?
Any wisdom in getting a kit to convert it to contact less? They seem to run about 150.00.
I have also read that yellow label ETMs wouldn't require an ecm reprogram?

I think ifixit has the kit and instructions to do the modification. There is also a replacement kit sold by Sacer. I’ve had one apart but never done the sensor swap. If you match the later white body , Volvo made ETM turbo-turbo no programming is required. I’ve done three white body swaps without programming so far.
In the ETM Room ( forum down the page) I think all these options are discussed and/or linked

Thanks!
Also good to know that white label is the newer ETM bs Yellow.
A Volvo parts dept told me that Yellow is newer/contactless and that my car comes with a white label.
I can of course check it myself but I was trying to get the parts in order first as I don't have a garage myself.
