Recycling Paper Towel...

Post by cn90 »

Update,

Local junk yard told me old rotor roughly $1/ea.
I am no expert but each rotor is 18-20 lb.
And scrap iron is ~ 5-10 cents/lb.

On the same topic of "recycling", I usually give the paper towel from the kitchen a 2nd life.

When the paper towel is still "somewhat clean", such as from drying your hands, or you just wipe something clean.
Or if the paper towel is 80-90% clean...

I save the used paper towel in a plastic container in garage.
It is good for oil change, working on brake (wiping stuff off), or even wiping greasy stuff off the engine compartment.
Win win for your wallet and the environment.
Less waste is better for the environment.

Similar to some previous posts, I collect all my metal trash, ALL of it, into one bin and once every month or so I drive by the metal recycler (most towns have one) and dump it in their collection bin. Fast, easy, takes just a few minutes. It's not worth my time trying to get a couple bucks for it.

Everything metal goes in the bin: used crush washers, rusty nails, rotors, wire scraps, old spoons, control arms. Nothing metal should go to a landfill.

Electronics are separate, take those to the "resource recovery plant" etc that your municipality has set up.

in rural Maine we have to take all the trash to the dump, they accept metal free and I often pick through their junk metal , amazing what people toss out. I usually use my metal to practice welding first, then dump it....its fun and you can electrocute yourself.
