the rear light socket tabs are very easy to break, Not the holder but the socket, this involves replacement of the light assembly. They are hella annoying to fit and require a few choice swear words to refit
In regards to the city lights, try removing one and seeing if it triggers a warning. On early versions (well my car) the answer is no but on later models?

It seems to have fixed itself for now and I didn't even whack it. I can't see how to reach the city lights without taking the car apart, is that even possible? I had to take the front bumper off and the headlights off to replace the little bulbs that are the orange corners of the headlights.
Some looking through old posts seems to confirm this is a problem with the rear lights, not the front. That is a relief, at least I know which end to take apart!

Update - one of the tail lights is actually out now. The warning still comes and goes erratically with seemingly no relation to the bulb actually being out
Time to replace the bulb and see if that is the end of it.
