As to Abscates' question on the ABS sensor and is it frayed? I don't believe it is. The first picture can be mis-interpreted. There are 2 other pictures showing it and it looks fine, although there may be a twig or something stuck to it.

Yes, it was a needle or twig from one of the trees over our driveway -- sheds a lot. Grateful and appreciative that you guys are checking for safety issues, though, and always open to suggestions and advice.

Adding to this knowledge base in this thread.

We ripped off shocks and struts on Grunhilde yesterday arriving at driveway at 1000 and me making my eye appintment at 1115 with car done!

Top shock bolts came off with impact with no counter hold

Jackstands can’t put load on the torsion bar or else the wheel won’t drop for spring removal

Minor pry bar action used to pop springs out

One of spring seat bolts snapped but I had UBG in garage. Ordered two FcP 9140723 at $20 as I have this job coming up

Use new washers and acorn bolts on the shock if you live in the rust belt. These parts live in the salt bath and corrode like dickens

I can confirm the FCP Lesjofors 9140099HD are excellent. Recommendation from another forum member who has tried other Volvo and aftermarket spring on his fleet of S/V70's.
