MIJ
Thanks, you are right. I will do the PCV when the weather warms up, along with struts and shocks (car's just a little soft right now). Still a little surprised that the intake manifold has to come off to do the job. But then I was surprised the dashboard had to come out to replace the evaporator. Oh well . . . .

Ummm
Hate to tell you this, but this is the classic sound of the blower fan about to take a dump. While you're in there, you might as well change that out too. This is going to add up, but you probably will never had to change these parts out again. If you let the fan go, the extra pull of current needed to turn the fan usually kills the electricals connected to the fan, which means more $$, so get it done asap. You can guy the fan at fcpgroton.com or eeuroparts.com With eeuroparts, shipping over $39 is free. Get the one wiht the cage and save yourself/mechanic the headache and extra work of taking the guts out of the fan to transfer them.

Little stumped on the fan shroud. I know there's one in the front of the car, on the other fan, but is there one with the blower motor? I'm thinking, not.
If you're going to open up the A/C completely by replacing those parts, you're going to need the correct PAG oil as well as R134-A gas.

OK, got the car back today after $1,106.11 bill was paid for evaporator/accumulator/hose replacement. My mechanic didn't charge to replace the heater core, blower motor, and thermostat besides. (I supplied the parts). Everything seems to be working. Only problem is, he put the steering wheel back on maybe one tooth askew. It looks like I'm taking a slight left when I'm headed straight!
After the great price he gave me, it's hard to complain. However, I will ask him if he marked the spline before removing the wheel. Not ready to try an alignment to correct the problem!

Scewed steering wheels are a pain and it seems I'm always dealing with them on both of our cars after an alignment. Take your car back and ask kindly if they can fix it so it's straight. I'm sure they'll understand what an annoyance it is and fix it for you.

Thanks MIJ. I called him yesterday and he will redo the wheel. Also, dash is loose at bottom by the door, the courtesy light there is out, there's black rubber coming out from under the hood.
Also, there's a new noise: when I take my foot off the gas there's a clunking sound from the front end. It's louder when it's cold. Already fixed the spring seats. Any idea what this could be? It's 102,000 miles +.
