Wow, you mean complete loss? Not sure where I saw this but hearing is preferred over eyesight as you can pick up everything around you whereas being able to see allows you to function fully and it's considered dangerous without sound if had it and then lose it. I wouldn't want to have to choose between the two but I think eyesight is more practical however. I suppose if you were born deaf you've never had to depend on sound so it's normal for you.

I have a friend who has polio so no function in one hand and one bad leg, yet he does not want a Handi-cap Placard. He said there are so many in Indonesia with the infirmity that it's normal in society and he doesn't see his "Handi-cap". Thanks for sharing, I use to have eagle eyes, dog ears and olfactory but... Learning to get use to it :D.

Hum .. reckon your driving instructor never taught you the Smith system. If you keep your eyes moving you can keep an awareness of what is around you and a real time map of the spatial relations. Watch a Deaf person, they use a form of the Smith System all the time.

Go to Walmarts and see how many people with typical hearing and sight are unaware of what is going on around them. How you use what you have not what you have makes the difference.

The biggest disability for a so called "Handi-cap" is other people's perceptions, idiocy and the little shits that try to get something without having earned it (The basis of all discrimination).

I think we were taught the Smith system back in the day 1975 but was not aware  or forgotten the term. I make it a point to look at my surroundings continuously and sometimes a little too long in the rear view for those that are coming up fast and making quick lane changes. Try to avoid their road rage by getting outta their way.

People shopping at the big box including Costco are the same way. I'm always avoiding getting in people's way.

Totally agree on the use of "Handi-Cap". I think Mentally Challenged is a good term for those who discriminate. It's one thing to describe a medical condition but it's another to discriminate. Unfortunately, the world is full of the Mentally Challenged but we still need to work with them however besides not discriminating against them less we think we are superior somehow.

Sorry Matt to have hi-jacked this thread.

No... I did get another wheel in from Amazon. It's more like an extruded cup than a wheel:

And I'll make sure I have a better mask and ear protection in place before I start the next round. I put in earplugs after 10 minutes last time. I was so focused on how to grind, wheel temperature, and progress, etc., that I didn't notice how damn loud grinding is.

Don't forget to wear some heavy duty leather gloves also. Was overseeing a walk in freezer installation years ago and the young HVAC guy just let his Makita grinder dangle from the cord dropping it on the ground and it swung and gashed him like cutting butter about six inches above the wrist. Dropped everything and left for the hospital ASAP.

I keep my grinder in a big tool bag, with a full face shield. That’s a great tool but that will do human damage really quickly.

I’ve saved at least $500 in brake disks on sitting cars this year alone with flap, disks

Hi, no, but I just passed it in my backyard 60 seconds ago...

I looked at hammer drills at Home Depot a few days ago. They're about $100 and up. I talked to my Significant Hobby, photography, and she said that's too expensive.

I'll give it another shot with that new, different wheel I got from Amazon.

I got this for grinding https://amzn.to/3bs91Om
