Thank you very much for letting me (and all of us) know about this! Back in January, I read on the Hot Wheels database that they were making more 850s for 2022 (along with other sweet wagons).

I really regret not buying more of the red and yellow ones. At only $1.25, surely I could afford to keep a few to give to other P80 Volvo fans. Maybe even trade them for the 2020 racing ones which I don't have. Now that there's green to match my car, I'll be buying a few.

Just wait until there's Nautic Blue, abscate...

I was at the grocery store focused on getting food while avoiding people. I barely knew why my subconscious jumped for joy until I did a double take on the isle end cap (which I always ignore) and saw this red beauty hanging there. I momentarily considered not buying it for fear of cluttering up my life. No, of course I needed it.

Since Hot Wheels finally made a boring station wagon, they have issued a few paint color variants. Now I want to find the gold and yellow ones. Maybe for 2022 they'll release my old Nautic Blue and my new Green (emerald something or other?). Or Laser Blue!

Post a picture if you find one out in the wild.
Hi,

That's cute, but did you double check to see if all the monitors are ready ? :-)

When i was very young around 10 y/o i had some Matchbox Cars and related. I had a Volvo too, station wagon not sure what the model was it was long ago. I either didnt like the color or just got tired of the color so i drilled out the rivets on the bottom and was able to get the metal body detached from the base and the interior. Once i got that, i could spray paint it any color i wanted to or at least what colors i had on hand. It's easy to put back together again i think i just snapped it back together and the remaining part of the rivets would hold it together, but today a little super glue would do the trick. You can use actual car paint too if you wanted too, like genuine Volvo retouch paint or something (not sure what they have out there for sale these days).

I may have reduced the value of the piece, but it was fun to do that. They probably arent worth too much really anyway when you get down to it. I may still actually have this car but i bet it is all beat up and needs another paint job.
Nice thing is, i havent driven it in more than 57 years so it still has low mileage :-)

Interesting to think about again.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

My brother gifted me with one of these emerald green ones a couple weeks ago. Don't know what my brother paid for it. It matches the color of my full sized one. I see some selling the red and yellows ones in the local classifieds for about $7 or so...Pretty good price. I guess its on the high side but would pay it. I just saw a green one for $3.

I also have a Tamiya 1/10 scale RC from the 90's that currenlty has the JTCC Opel Vectra body. The chassis will also accept the BTCC 850 body. The price is kinda crazy for the 850 body...I'm still hunting for a cheap one.
It's blowby

Hot Wheels cars have an MSRP of $1. My local grocery store sells them for $1.25, but Walmart and Target have them for $1. Red and Yellow were from 2021 so are recent enough that they shouldn't be too expensive. The BTCC one is from 2020, still recent enough to not cost much.

But wait, there's more! New for 2022, Hot Wheels made a 240 drift wagon! It has dogs in the back!! This may be the first time I've used bold on MVS and it's totally worth it. Since Hot Wheels has created this new mold, they will likely release it in new colors for the next two years, so keep looking for them.

I'm still occasionally checking my local Target and Walmart for the green and black 850 wagons. Yes, a professional toy car photographer took the classic picture of Volvo wagons stacked on each other.

To quickly find these on the racks in the store, check the collector number in the top right. You can glance at all the numbers in a row of hanging cars in just a moment. Also, the series name on the right side can help. For 2022, the 850's are #140 with the "HW Wagons" series name on a peach colored background. The 2022 240 is #232 with the "HW Drift" series name on a dark pink background.

I am restricting myself to only buy Hot Wheels and Matchbox versions of cars that I've owned. Shockingly, Hot Wheels has released three totally uncool vehicles that I've owned in 2022. Good thing they only cost $1.20 (up from $1 thanks to inflation).

My little collection just got bigger. I actually owned a 1980's Toyota Van, so I'm shocked to see it as a Hot Wheels car. Let's hope they make it in different color variations over the next few years so I can get more. I'm still hunting for those green and black 850s.

Coming in 2023 is a new Volvo P1800. They are really giving Volvo fans the good stuff in the 2020's.

Goupil, I love that Hot Wheels display on your dash! How are they stuck there?

I am still hunting for the green and black 850 and the 240. Recently at Walmart, I was surprised to find this alternative color Toyota Van which I didn't know existed (but could assume since they seem to do two colors of each). My little collection is growing, but still missing the 2020 and 2022 Volvos.

Last year around this time, my local Target seemed to dump their entire Hot Wheels inventory into a large bin by the door. I flipped through and had about four yellow 850s in my hand but only bought one. Hopefully they'll do that again and I'll finally find the ones I need.
