The picture of the console in the attached thread below shows the override button. It is the small black button slightly forward of the RHS of the gearshift lever with writing below it.

Could this have been a security issue? I had that happen the other day at the gas station. My hazard lights and horn went off, but not at first.... the car was just dead.

had the same issue. (97 850) if you don't mind not having an alarm relay, you can pull it and install a jumper wire between 2 of the points, if, of course, that IS what's preventing it from turning over.

But do i also have to get out of the car and run around it four times then do three jumping jacks, recite 5 Hail Mary's, put one hand over my left eye, and sing a merry ol' song from the 17th century then push the button (ha ha)
Do they have a college class on this i could take at night?
It's funny how they make cars to run good, but also not to run at all.
On a more modern note, there has been a new engine invented. It was made to put out extremely low emissions. It's small with high horsepower too. It was invented because someone wanted a gas engine that could compete with electriic vehicles which themselves dont put out any emissions. Dont remember the name now but im sure it is on the web.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Hello again,
I found the Shift Lock Override Button.
IT was right there to the right of the shifter as noted. The thing is, sitting in the drivers seat all ths time the shifter blocks the view of the button so i may have never seen it until yesterday when i looked for it. Funny, i've been in the car a thousand times and never saw it because the shifter blocks the view perfectly and when you move the shifter you start to drive so you dont really look for anything unusual.
So now i guess you just push the button? I ask because i saw some links that say you have to pop the cap off and use a screwdriver to push the tab inside the hole down to unlock the shfiter.
Thanks.

Just a quite related note.
My neighbors 2002 Mustang also went into "imobilized" mode. Going to cost $1250.00 plus take two weeks to get a new computer they say costs $700.00 which sounds kind of high to me. It's at a Ford dealer.
Strange that i woould have a problem a day after that first happened.

I would go the user manual for guidance on that. I think the posts on removing the cap are for stuck button issuesMrAl wrote: ↑09 Feb 2022, 07:14 Hello again,
