The MAF has arrived, I installed it last night. I drove it today and it seemed good, no dry heaving or stalling, lights on dash are out (check engine, ETS, etc.). I noticed a couple of hesitations on the drive but hopefully that is the sensor/car relearning a few old tricks.

I will clear the codes and see what pops up on the reader.

Hopefully this will be it. Now on to tackle the broken ice maker.

Thanks!

Perseverance rewarded... :D

Sounds like the codes cleared themselves?

Unfortunately, the wagon stalled four times yesterday. I am guessing I am dealing with a big vacuum leak of some kind.

Before I drove the car yesterday, I did clear the codes and then rescanned. Zero codes present after rescan. No dash lights.

I will rescan today and see what spits out. Check Engine light back on while driving yesterday/stalling.

I think it's time to hand it over to my honest mechanic. Driving with a kid and a bun in the oven with snow dumping soon, I think it may be time.

What ever happened to the old addage, when the MAF dies the car idles poorly and disconnected it will idle fine. When she disconnected the MAF, it shouldn't have wanted to go faster than 1500 rpm.

There are a host of problems with her car and most likely we will need to see the new error codes before we jump to any conclusions. We can ignore the EVAP codes for now, possibly even the MAP error she had as she is almost a sea level.

She also needs to start a new post as this one is too long and hard to read through. At least she doesn't have to worry about the ABS module.

Will start a new post tomorrow.
Car ran fine today and no stalls. No codes. Engine light off.
I left the MAF sensor connected and wanted to see what today would bring.
Will check codes, if any, tomorrow.
Thanks guys.

Lets keep the same thread, but I will summarize where we are today on this one.

Klaus - unplugging the MAF does not put you into 'limp home' mode of 1500 rpm, but instead runs a default set of ETB parameters based on rpm, I believe. Amy drove the car around for a couple of weeks with no MAF connected, and it ran pretty well.

Car stalled a few times today but only in parking lot at work (when foot was off accelerator).

I have left the MAF sensor connected since I replaced it. Should I disconnect? I wasn't sure if it's "bad" to drive for so long with it disconnected or if it will ultimately do any damage, etc. Please let me know as I would love to go back to the more reliable mode when it's disconnected.

Only two codes on reader as of today:

P0238
P0236

I will look those up.

PS I am in Bend, Oregon elevation is 3500.
