Why is the Canada death rate so low, despite lagging in vaccinations?

Simple. Canada exported its dumbA$$ to the South.

We aren’t done with this yet. For an R naught of 3.5-4 we need >80% vaccination rates for this thing to die.

Memo to the anti-vaxxers. You will get vaccinated. You have to decide if it’s by virus or by injection

^ cute answer, but obviously not based in fact.
So why are they doing better up north ? Could a more factual answer be that they don't rely on pharmaceuticals to the extent that we do ? After all they don't push yearly flu shots, nor do they ingest other sorts of medications at our rate. So just maybe overall they are a bit healthier than we are. I have no idea, but it is curious, and should be seriously looked at.
Speaking of curious, I was wondering if the makers of the vaccines are able to modify them in order to fight the new variants. Apparently not really. The vaccine approved a year ago by the FDA is what we get, no matter what the virus is doing. So that's why they're talking about boosters, in order to address the new variants. But they're not sure how the new and old vaccines will react to each other. So what's going to happen when a person has half a dozen different vaccines from different makers injected, all of which are tinkering with cells, RNA etc.? Seems like the results of tinkering might last longer than the virus itself.
It feels like we're playing a serve and volley game with the virus, with our bodies being the playing field. And the virus is getting all the first serves. Thanks, but no thanks.
Until we know more, I still believe that an N95 mask is the best solution to the problem.

Maybe some of our members from up north could chime in. Are you vaccinating, social distancing, masking or just going on about your business ?
What are you guys doing right up there that we seem to be missing down here ?

So all ranting aside, in my case, I'm planning on getting the vaccine this fall, if this is still a major issue.
My father always said to avoid buying a new model car in its first year of production. Always wait a year for them to work out the bugs.
It will be interesting to see if they change the mix, in order to deal with Delta etc, by then. And if anything has full authorization by then as well.

I have heard this idea as do not be the first to try new things, but also do not be the last to try new things.

I'm hoping that by the fall we will have vaccine gummies, infused with THC of course.
If we're going to do this, might as well make fun. :)

Now that combination may get a lot of reluctant people vaccinated.
