I'm sorry but I don't know if any Asian brands make the parts as likely we wouldn't see them. In their defense there can't be a huge market for them in Asia. Have you tried Rock Auto? They have SKF bearings and some cheaper brands. Their shipping is a lot lower than most companies. Not sure what it would be for your though.

Have you tried buying parts from say Australia? Again, not sure what their shipping is like to you.

As to are your wheels needing thicker lug bolts. I don't think I have come across any P80/P2 wheels that need longer bolts. I don't even think I have ever seen them. It could be the bearing itself is an aftermarket one with poor quality steel that has failed?

I just finished a tune up on Ingrid, the 98' S70 5-speed. A couple of weeks ago I had a no start situation, luckily it was just down road at our local supermarket. But it happened on a very humid and rainy day, and that got me thinking. The car started up again after letting it sit for a couple of hours, so luckily I didn't need a tow. It also had quite a bit of hesitation when accelerating.
Looking at the parts coming out of the car, I am thinking the tune up was way overdue. When I bought the car 2 years ago the owner said, naah, no tune up needed. But I should have looked right away.
Also, there was a very large mouse nest in the airbox. That engine was probably seriously starving for air.
But now she runs really well again. Parts used are Volvo plugs, Bougicord wires, Bosch cap and rotor. I also swapped in a nearly new K&N air filter from Mathilda, the non running 99' S70.

Came back from a week at the 24h of Le Mans sunday evening, absolutely knackered by a lot of walking/cycling and not a lot of sleeping, had an appointement at the inspection center the next day at 13:30 for the V70 :?

First thing Monday morning replaced the noisy wheel bearing (of that one Schaeffler brand that wasnt thought for the US market), in my attempt to do it quickly I stripped one of torx bolts... Ended up swapping the whole knuckle for a spare one with the new bearing on, was quicker than trying to extract the bolt
Swapped the wheels for ones with old but legal size tires.
Had some time left so fixed one of the fuel pump relays.
Made it through inspection

Needless to say absolutely nothing was achieved in the afternoon after that rush

RedBrickCollector wrote: 17 Jun 2025, 08:01 Thanks, I can't rule out that the lugs on were no longer the originals. Got a whole set (and a couple extra) 35mm H&R bolts. Could it also be that the Thor wheels I changed to needed longer bolts?

Could you name a few of the asiatic makes and a quick opinion of them? Ironic for someone asiatic, I can't find any of them. I'll have to go look specifically for them by brand.

I'm looking into ordering a wheel hub but find myself falling victim to the might-as-wells.
Just as a for instance,

GMB, MOOG, and VAICO are names found in the states.
I bought a GMB from a vendor here, seems to be holding up so far.

Hard for us to know what the supply chain looks like there, try looking by the part number, Volvo 274378.
Is AliExpress an option ?

And, again, if there isn't a torque wrench in the tool kit or readily available, it is critical to torque the wheel bolts every time, so that would be something to consider.
At this point it may be faster to just fix the damage to get the car driveable again. Once the hub has been off the first time - you may need to use some gentle heat to soften the thread lock fluid on the axle splines - getting it apart the next time for boots and such will be much easier.

The threaded portion of the bolts aren't any longer, but the hex portion might be, so they stand proud of the face of the wheel center. I have those on a '98 V70R, and the standard bolts are fine, just a bit hard to reach because they're recessed a bit.

Anyone ever saw this done before?

Yes. I carry one in each of mine. I think one of Robert's early videos mentions it too.

I’ll put on in my trunk as well then.
I’ve been reading and watching about my car for the past two weeks and already saved 3k by doing stuff myself.

Got some parts in and just noticed the intake gasket and oil trap is from pps.

Hope it’ll work out for my car 😅. I’ve read some negative stories about that brand.

Fixing it now is starting to make more sense yeah, anyone know the shipping weight for a hub and if any of the hardware is single use?

I will check the weight as I have a pair of old ones in the garage, 4 E-Torx bolts are technically one-use. My mechanic friend re-uses them, but if they are rusty I would replace. SKF so not include new bolts as I found out. Some brands do. You might also want to check if for your car if they include the axle nut. Also check the dust cover on the rear of the wheel bearing is good.
