That pic must have been from our friends and former neighbors porch - "Oh look, the neighbor kid is out working on that Volvo again." He was an old Volvo guy, with a 142E, a round headlight 240 sedan, an '80 240 wagon, a 960 wagon... He helped me with advice, and introduced me to Oddvar the Volvo genius mechanic.
My wife thinks that must have been '95 or later. She is, of course, weeding and gardening just like now. I'm taking apart a car on the street that we need on Monday. It's funny, because I rebuilt an old Model A garage off the alley with a new slab, but it was tiny, no lights, and that's where the Alfa lived.
I do remember Viking Bank! And the Norwegian Club and parade, and the Nordic Heritage Museum right by us, and little old ladies at the grocery store speaking in tongues! In the 90s! People had Norwegian, Finnish, or Swedish flags on their porches. And more 240s per capita than probably anywhere - we had 5 on our block.
