I had the same view and still do except for the all the stellar reviews of this product I read on the oil board.
I DO NOT believe in "mechanics-in-a-can" (never did). This product is simply a modern lubricant.
Some conversations leaned toward R&Ring the valve body. The LubeGard was recommened as a cheap way of postponing or eliminating that job.
The posts all focus on easier and smoother shifting after use.
I do not sell the stuff.
Fair enough. Though I'd still do the drains and drive it a while first. Then if that's not enough I agree it's absolutely worth a try before taking it apart.

Time to replace the second front brake caliper. Did the first one this summer. Now the other one made the car shudder och the motorway.

The one I replaced this summer (pictured) looked like it had spent some time at the bottom of a lake so I'm. Not surprised the second one is bad as well.. :-)

Regarding the "inevitable" changing of your other caliper.

Years before I drove I read "Smokey's Garage" and other car advice pieces in magazines (remember them?).
One bit of advice was "Never to patch" a system if you wanted to keep a car. If one brake cylinder went out, do 'em all, etc.

The car Gods just caught up with you.

I guess they did. But now I'm running ahead again. One hour of work all in all to change it. Nothing was even close to stuck but came loose nicely. The old one looked just as miserable as the one I changed this summer above.

There was a lot of warmth in the winter sun today as well so it was as actually very nice to be out.

And now the car feels much quicker to drive and consumption is down 20%. Not bad :-)

Are you saying the caliper dragged against the rotor and caused a 20% drop in mileage? WOW.

Didn't it smell?

I only noticed yesterday so it's gone from poor to bad quickly. Then it was both making the car shudder, making the rim hot and smelling. It did get better after a while driving without touching the brake though so it wasn't always dragging that much.

And take the 20% with a pinch of salt since it's just a casual observation of the trip computer before and after. The car feels like I doesn't work as hard just driving along though. It did sound quite tired at 120 kph just this morning when I drove to get the replacement caliper. Now it's idling along at that speed again.

Had some fun today and made a compilation. The engine had originally stuck piston rings (first two clips), managed to free them a little bit afterwards

And a little video with my city driving fuel saving habits
