I just ordered this battery off AliExpress I expect it should be a drop in replacement.

I just got done with this repair by following this how-to on my 2004 XC90. I had the warning notification on the dash and an inoperable sunroof. I put a new battery in a siren out of a 2005 XC90 in the junkyard. Now there’s not a notification and the sunroof works! I used the battery from battery space.com (now it’s available on Amazon of course). All your info is much appreciated!

can anyone tell me what the proper resistance should be across the terminals of a good module? Would like to test before breaking it apart.

I am thinking:bleubistro wrote: ↑07 Jul 2019, 18:27 Simply unplugging the siren module worked for me (error message gone, moonroof working again). 2006 XC70. The only thing I would add is that drilling out the rivets wasn't so simple in my case because they just kept spinning in place. I had to use pliers and brute force to pull them out. Otherwise, I was able to fold back enough of the wheel well plastic and easily unplugged the siren using a flathead screwdriver. Error message re alarm service required and non-functional moonroof issues immediately solved. Hopefully the issue does not recur.
- Remove RF wheel, support by jackstand.
- Remove the 10-mm plastic nuts, don't remove the rivets.
- Peel the plastic liner back enough to disconnect the alarm module.
Does that sound correct?

You'll have to use a rubber band to hold it till it dries. I am using a little light sprinkle of baking powder on the seam then super glue.

Can someone give an update on battery brand (Varta vs Chinese Battery on ebay)?
What brand/type that allows a direct dropin w/o too much soldering etc.)?

A quick question: once you fix the problem (with either a brand-new siren module or new battery etc.)...
Do you need to use VIDA to clear the error message on the dash or it goes away by itself?
