Thoughts are with you Nick. Hope your Mom and Dad are back home soon. Agree with you on spending time with your friend.

Lost my Dad to stomach cancer last week. He was diagnosed in August with stage 4. They tried some experimental chemo in the Fall that nearly killed him, he recovered some in Dec/Jan and after a brief try of radiation in Feb decided he’d had enough. The last month went quick. He was 77 so had a good life. He has two sisters who passed from ovarian cancer years ago, one left who beat breast cancer.

The one upside is we knew time was short and got more time with him than I usually would. My grandfather had 4 years in a nursing home, that was tough.

I managed to make it all these years without getting covid, and they've called an end to the pandemic here. Then I tested positive for covid five days ago. Five more days of quarantine.

It’s the end of the pandemic. Only 50,000 people will die of Covid a year moving forward, which is typical for a bad flu year.

50,000 per year equals approximate lives lost in US traffic accidents per year and approximate total US lives lost in Vietnam conflict.

Regarding much of what I've read here; I think the idea is to take the most circuitous, scenic route possible, to our inevitable destination.
At least that's what I'm trying to do.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.
