hi neil yes thats what i did though to be honest you could not tell any difference driving her!i did the 22 miles to the garage sedately though just incase but thank my lucky stars it welded up lovely and is good as ever now, brake shoes came today and look correct so thats this weeks job weather permitting of course, also found out that my usual go to for car paintwork has retired which is a bummer.scot850 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2024, 14:45 Disconnect the end link on one side and tie it out of the way. Driving it 20 miles to get welded (not sure how successful that will be on the twisting of the bar, but hopefully!) will likely break it completely. Running with it disconnected is not ideal but not terrible for a short time.
Neil.
the jokers around here i would never trust to do the job properly having seen some of there work close up there far to keen on filler where there should be steel! so i am going to do it myself and it means a lot of work as my old mad aunty has a large but dirty and broken down garage with a working compressor but to get a space clean enough for a decent job means making a spray booth and of course i will need tools, this will be a summer project and im looking for a cheap run around car i can use then sell for a small profit as theres good money in small petrol cars again now. the drive to the hospital around 25 miles away is on some real worn out roads lots of potholes and lumps and bumps but the car is very much smoother now all the d links and axle bushes have been done, thankfully the shocks and springs were new in 2015 so all is good except the front subframe mounts look a bit rough but they can wait!cheers
