'm better prepared to fend off getting the virus from people who think they have the right to make me sick
It’s that simple, really.

If you choose not to get vaccinated, but want to participate in society, it’s the equivalent of picking up a random handgun from a collection of possibly loaded ones, and clicking it at the people around you, and putting it in your mouth once every 50 clicks.

There ARE risks with every vaccine, which have to be balanced against the risk to ALL of not getting vaccinated. Don’t bring your false arguments from fake news sources and Grass Senators to this debate, though.

"There ARE risks with every vaccine, ..."

At this point, with well north of 350 million doses digested by folks here, the number of people suffering any ill-effects of any kind is vanishingly small. The saddest deaths in my mind are the pregnant women dying unvaxed because of the manure being extruded by the radical science deniers.

^ Not to rehash this..... again, but

A) This is the first time we have ever used the mRNA vaccine. Not at all like the vaccines we were all used to as children.

B) We do not know what the POSSIBLE long term ( 5 - 10 years +) side effects could be on our immune systems because of ..A.
Tinkering with things can sometimes have long term affects that we are not able to see when we first start the tinkering.

C) Big pharma has a terrible reputation for putting $$$$ above all else. Another gift from Regan - allowing the drug companies to hawk their wears on TV directly to consumers, along side used car lots, instead of the professionals, ie doctors. Advertising half a dozen vaccines for different maladies tends to minimize their importance overall to the consumer. If we were not bombarded 24/7 with big pharmas fear tactics for everything from toe fungus to red eyes, then maybe when something serious like this happens, people would take it seriously instead of being numb and dumb. Remember the boy who cried wolf ? This is the price we pay for allowing them to do this crap, so they can continue to milk the average citizen. Just look up the amount of prescriptions that the average US citizen takes, and then tell me that I should take them at their word when it comes to this. BS ! At some point it all collapses.
Not unlike what's going on with Facebook. " Gee what could possibly be the harm ? We're just trying to make a little money here ".

This may be the first mRNA vaccine to be produced, but the technology has been around since the 1980's.
Concerning possible bad long term effects, this short article tells that most bad side effects show up in a couple months.

If you want to read about vaccine production, see "How to make a Vaccine" by John Rhodes published by University of Chicago Press in 2021. Rhodes is an expert on immunology and vaccine discovery. The book is relatively short and not too hard to read.

That is not limited to Big pharma The real motive behind "more choices" is to hawk products and services to people that don't know enough about the subject to make the best decision. This is putting the profits of incorporated persons up and above people. As if people exist to serve incorporated persons.

Example: All the choices in employee investment programs. You would not trust an hourly employee to run the company because they do not have the knowledge to make the best financial decisions. A good service to employees would be to use management's skill set to make find the best deal for the employees. That is now it was done with the old fashion retirement fund was done.

There are a stupefying number of asset management companies.

You need to pay someone a hundred dollars or so, every ten years, to talk about your needs and plans.

You do not need to pay anyone anything, annually.

Every time I get a call from a “ financial planner” I pitch

“You get 20% of the gains above and beyond the SP500. If you don’t beat it, I pay you nothing.”

…crickets…..

If you can’t beat an index fund, what value do you have, quarterly?

The SEC guy who called out Madoff 5 years before he was caught figured out his gains weren’t mathematically possible, not to mention he didn’t have enough staff to make the reported transactions.

Pay somebody to say what you already know and is not their business Dud :!: Clearly the "planner" is planning his own financial future by data mining the "clients" and collecting the capital to do so from the clients.

Where do you think they get the data used to make the sales pitch that snags marks.

In financial planning, like many things, educate yourself as much as possible, BUT know your own limitations and ask highly trained experts (brokers, estate lawyers, and CPA accountants) for advice when needed. Be very selective in who you ask for advice. Try to build a relationship with them over years so you both know each other.
