Irish betting has it down at 666:28 for you.

Crack the hose at the caliper before you loosen it or remove it, much easier to get good torque. 28 seconds of propane heat on the metal at the caliper hose.

On the fittings, make the big commitment and cut the hose off at the Union, so you can get a good closed end wrench over the last bit of fitting. Dremel works well, zip , zip, zip.

The calipers are already off, except for the hoses. New ones in place, too. I just hadn't realized I needed to do calipers until two of the bleeders snapped off on me, leading me to wonder what else is wrong with them; and I didn't notice the cracking in the front hoses until I was ready to reassemble.

I think I'm totally okay with returning the old calipers for my core deposit with a little bit of hose still sticking out of them, or maybe I'll put them on the bench vise for that step.

This sounds like a good idea to me. I've got a cheap Chinese knock-off of a Dremel right where I can reach it.

I drenched the fittings in Kroil before I closed the shop up last night. Should be good to go after work today.

You can bleed a caliper with a broken valve at the hose. It’s a bit messier but....

Buy a pizza
Remove pizza to oven
Put pizza box under caliper full of paper or newsprint.
Crack hose and have helper slowly pump fluid while you alternately crack/ tighten hose. 1/2 turn will do it

Spray down with water
Throw out box

Eat pizza

The front hoses were cracked, so I ordered a new set from FCP. I got the stainless ones.

Naturally, only one of them came free of the hard line easily. The rear two, I had to spin the hose to get it out. The fitting was seized to the line. I only realized this was a problem after the front left sheared off on me. :x

I think there's enough left to cut it clean with a dremel and re-flare it. I'll try tomorrow. If not, time to order a new line...

I installed a new cupholder where the cubby hole beside the radio was. Pretty easy to do. Bought it from FCPEuro, and it came in a factory Volvo box with clear instructions included in the box on how to remove the cubby hole and install the cupholder. Took maybe 15 minutes to swap them out.

There was. My first flare job seems to have been a success.

I think I've still got air in the system somewhere, though. Although the pedal felt firm enough with the car off, start the engine and it feels spongy.

Had it running and just happened to look down to see my temp guage pegged and a message saying to shut the engine off. Good thing I hadn't left yet, so it was only idling when it happened. I don't think it was pegged for too long, so hopefully nothing was damaged.

Project Sunroof, installed this week.

Like most all of you my sunroof had leaks, but moreover it was flat out broke. When I bought the car I had to fabricate rear mounts that slid into the slide rail for the rear sunroof glass and sealed it shut for another day. Over the last month I picked up 2 headliners, 1 sunroof assembly (one extra sunroof assembly came with the car) and various pieces and parts. I put together a good sunroof assembly using two to make one. Mind you it was untested, but all the pieces are on one and all there. I cleaned a headliner and used the other headliner fabric to recover the sliding shade. Oh I actually picked 3 headliners as I screwed one up. Lol The job wasn’t that hard, but it kinda was as a one man job logistically. That’s where the cussing factor came in like dropping a bolt at a crucial time, etc. While it was out I cleaned and tested my front and back drains. So, it’s in it works and looks great and it passes the water test. I ran water over it and sprayed it directly at the seals for a while. I’m tired and sore, but happy with it. Pick a part, headliner $10.99 ea. Sunroof $35.00, other pieces and parts ~ $20.00. Sweating and cussing, moderate. 😬

I dont think I have ever had any modern car with a sunroof leak, except when I get 2 feet of snow on it and let it ice dam

Is this a thing?

Yes, while googling trying to gather information about doing this job there are quite a bit of conversations on the internet about leaky sunroofs on S60’s. There is also a reference to a lawsuit from P2 owners against Volvo regarding leaking sunroofs. This S60 has two references during its warranty period where it visited the dealer. One of its rear sunroof drain hoses looks to have been replaced as it is a different color than the other. But that was really not the point of my post as my sunroof was just broke in so many ways, hence a spare s/r came with the purchase. Lol
