This obscure thing is a 1927 Lancia Lambda Series VIII, says the caption. I believe it was the first unit body car, with no big ladder frame, so they could sit lower.

It was on a Lancia tour in the Alps.

It’s an Arnolt-Bristol. Arnolt was an entrepreneur from Chicago. He put together British chassis’ with Italian coachbuilders and an American name.

Here’s some stuff I found that probably not worth all the guessing -

The Packard “Twin Six” was the first production V12 engine, in 1915. $2600(!). Inspired Enzo Ferrari to build a V12 30 years later.

Late 40’s, the first Porsche 356 Cabriolet.
Only 3 of these were built, in Vienna by coachbuilders Beutler. They had a slightly different shape than the coupe being built in an old sawmill in Gmund Austria - the famous Gmund coupes, the first badged Porsches. All aluminum bodies.

This 2009 magazine has a long piece on “The Greatest Cars” by decade. It’s somewhat subjective, and sometimes with a British bias - it’s not always the fastest, the most beautiful, the most popular. They have their reasons! “Greatness is about the impact of a car. It must be beautiful, of course, and it must be inspiring to drive.”

Here are some of them:
1900’s - Mercedes (no Benz!) 60HP.
“It was driven from the Riviera to Stuttgart without a stop - no other car could have matched this. (1903)”

After he made that trip, the Daily Mail founder wrote: “I believe the brain, nerves, and blood are stimulated by rapid transit through the air as by no other means…”
