It really is. I had some idiot yesterday come completely into my lane, fortunately she looked up from her phone just in time to not hit me!
People who pay zero attention while driving should have their licenses revoked instantly. It just pisses me off that these people can continue to put peoples' lives in danger and they rarely get caught.

Pissed at myself for lack of sit awareness, but then I realised he had no brake lights and I had stopped on a pure visual speed reference alone. That’s actually praiseworthy.

I got really evil hot brake stench for about 5 minutes afterwards. should I pull a wheel on the weekend and inspect the front brakes?

Brakes should be fine, they are designed to handle this kind of stuff.

I'm glad you got out of that situation OK! I have personally had a few of those incidents but for different reasons.
Heading home on I-684 northbound sometimes the sun is right behind traffic, which makes seeing brake lights very hard. Of course people never slow down or leave extra space and that's when disaster strikes.

But one time back in Germany I was going about a 100mph on the Autobahn in my Capri, sun setting right behind me. I'm in the left lane and didn't see that the traffic ahead of me had stopped. Once I did, I pushed the brake pedal as hard as I could without locking up because no ABS. I was lucky and did ok with a few feet to spare, but all the tire smoke I saw in the rear view mirror scared the s...t out of me. But lucky again to not get rear ended.

I usually don't have a problem with people talking in the car, but there are definitely times when passengers really need to shut up while I'm driving.
I think the touchscreens and stuff in new cars are a lot worse than handsfree phone as far as distractions go. They just enable these distracted drivers. I know a lot of them won't let you use a lot of the features while the car is moving, but it's still a huge distraction.

I believe adding lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, automatic braking, and some of these other 'safety' systems, along with these ridiculous infotainment systems is just enabling distracted driving. Not saying safety systems are bad, but I think they are giving people this attitude of "oh it's okay to look at my phone, if anything happens my car will warn / stop for me."

This is the classic case where an automatic braking system would have saved my hide - no brake lights on vehicle ahead. ITs a good reminder of how many $2 parts there are between you and a wreck. Ok, Volvo bulbs, $12 parts.

The beginning of touchscreen technology was optional on the 1985 Buick Riviera than standard on the new body 1986-1989 Riviera, 1988-89 Reatta. Though it was much easier to use than the modern Infotainment system it was too distracting. I witnessed a lady during that time, she did not stop at the dealer entrance and ran straight into the highway and total her brand new Riviera driving it off the lot brand new. She was trying to adjust the radio! I prefer a normal dash with a radio, switches like climate control, and a fan speed dial! June

Oh my car went in yesterday and I am driving the 2019 S60 currently. Definitely not me, but most of you out there will love this car's light nimble feeling on the road!

I haven't seen one of the new '19 S60s in person yet.

I'm back in Chicago for a couple weeks. Just saw one on the way to hardware store. Dark blue 2019 S60 T6, I think they are calling it 'Denim Blue', close enough to my '06 Barents Blue to pass as same color at glance. Oh my flippity that might be one of the most beautiful cars in a generation...or two. Makes the MBs looks like weird contraptions pulled from Bioshock or Fallout (computer games). Only cars I've seen that come even remotely close to it in the looks department would be *maybe* the new Jaguars and Alfas.

The mid-age lady driving it didn't really look like the type to be trolling the enthusiast boards, but if I'm wrong: Chicago-Friday 3/8 ~11am on Ashland south of Foster Ave.... NICE VOLVO!!!!

Edit: meant to mention this first time around. I did notice something, would be considered a 'technical' concern: Rear main stoplamps. The 'beam focus' is too narrow. Ashland Ave is 4 lanes.. when I was in her left hand 'blind spot area' in traffic any time she tapped on the brakes momentarily, at the tighter angle you don't see the RH or the center high stop lamps light, only the left. I thought she was signaling to merge left and tapped on my brakes to slow/give her room to merge left in front of me. But after a couple more 'instances' I realized light from the RH/CH stop lamps is only visible (in daylight?) when a little further back. Cause for a slight bit of 'confusion' in real world traffic, I'm sure Volvo might want to address this. This isn't something I've ever noticed/confused with various other vehicles in the past. I'm sure somebody knows somebody who can point this observation toward the appropriate Volvo authorities for 'assessment'.

A quick Google search shows there was a wagon planned but they did the SUV instead. Stupid decision.
