Today my 08 windshield got detailed. Not sure what previous owner got into but had terrible wiper streaks across the whole windscreen. Really bad glare at night. I had already tried white vinegar on paper towels for over an hour with no luck.
Enter $11 Invisible Glass Stripper. Tried hand polishing with their sponge with some improvement. I've been eyeing a polisher for a while so off to Harbor Freight with my 20% off coupon. 7" polisher on a medium green sponge and the Invisible Glass Stripper did the trick. Started at slow speed but had a few stubborn spots where I went to high speed and kept it moving. Applied Rain-X when done.
Messy job, slung specks of stripper across hood and to the trunk. Will get a run through the car wash tonight. Curious to see if all the glare is gone.
Edit: Very successful test drive tonight. Zero glare. Really glad that worked out as did not want hassle of replacing windscreen.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

We keep two at work in the parking garage , paid for benefit. We fall under the professional union, which also gives us healthcare for the under 30 kids, about a 250k benefit.

At least. Volvos are rare in salvage yards here so I manage my own parts supply.

Same here VolvoLugNut, Volvos are few and far between in our yards. Went to Pull-a-Part on Tuesday and scored some P2 XC90 upper tail lights and P2 XC70 lower tail lights, a new-looking starter as well as a few odds and ends trim-wise that somehow added up to $330. Oh and a speedo assembly I really bought solely for the plastic shield. Don't tell the wife. I might return that with my grungy one swapped I can't seem to get clean...for store credit. Shield only swap, definitely not the computery bits as I imagine the DMV would have a cow.
Anywho, there was an 04 XC70 there with shiny engine mounts, poor thing. I did not have my larger sockets and wrenches so could only stare at them longingly. I wanted to ask you guys how you felt about seemingly gently used mounts. I think Ben's should be toward the top of my PM list but before that I have to replace shocks. When I changed his oil last I could barely shimmy under and could lift him up with one hand. Since I haven't put on any winter weight or Terry Crews-esque muscle, this means shocky shocks are needed! Ugh.
So I'm playing the normal, FCP guarantee or Rockauto, IPD blah blah head game with myself. Of course I intend on keeping Ben well after I proudly pin on his 300k grille badge so clearly I should FCP. I'm leaning toward the whole kit because I might as well since I don't remember the rears looking new when I flushed the brake fluid. I couldn't find FCP's loaded shocks and all I have to do is build the new one so...yay. I have done it before but I do not like using my death sticks. Stress! Danger! At least I don't have to unload the old one if I go for all the bits and pieces. Woo!
