I believe it's part 8628771 for $86. Would it be a good test to run a jumper cable from the battery positive to the fuse box post, making a good connection between them? Then run the car and see if it idles smoothly. Is that cable long enough for her to temporarily install it outside of the fuse box instead of fighting it through the fusebox bottom conduit?

I need this problem fixed quickly so want to order parts soon. What else could I order to throw at the problem? I'm blind with no access to the car for diagnostics.

Voltage issues? Something like this is a great troubleshooting tool:

Thanks. The Amazon link was hidden as usual, but it was available in the quote. It's a cigarette lighter voltage meter.

Kinda wish there was a stock voltmeter in the dash,
but the cigarette units are cheap and do the job. 👍

We tried a jumper cable between the battery positive and the fuse box. That didn't improve the rough idle. I'll replace that cable later.

The car is misfiring based on what little I can hear over the phone. The miss sounds consistent, not random. I don't think it's a failed coil or the check engine light would have flashed while driving at highway speed (as I've seen before). I'll order the MAP sensor and MAP vacuum hose to try next.

I wonder if I messed something up when cleaning the PCV months ago, though it's driven fine since. My other 2000 V70 developed a misfire and gross air leak under the intake manifold maybe 6 months after I did the PCV job. However, I drove that one for months with the misfire and it never stalled out.

You should check it. Mine until two almost failed completely did not throw a code. Have her remove the cover and pull the wire and start. If the roughness does not change it's that coil. Go down the line. A few screws and pulling each wire does not require much tools but just being careful not to damage the wires and connectors.

I’ll see what this week looks like. A set of plugs and UBG coils might put this one to bed until Spring

Sounds like a classic compound problem, this particular vintage really doesn't like low voltage. The fresh battery crossed an item off the checklist; a set of Mk.I eyeballs on vacuum hoses would be my next suggestion.
