I bought the VADIS DVDs off of eBay from the UK, and installed the program without too much grief. I ended up telling my dealer that I had the software, and the service guy said: "Man, I wish that all of our customers had that [VADIS], cause it would make looking up part numbers a lot easier...".

It's a good investment! 8)

That is why Volvo have not tried to stop the rash of sellers on eBay.

It is useful for repairs for the newer vehicles but is as much use as a chocolate fireguard for the older types.

Thanks everyone for your help. I finally got Vadis installed!!! It only took me about 8 hours all told. Ironically, after successfully installing it, I had to remove it from my computer. It slowed down startup so badly, I couldn't stand it. I'll ask a techie friend about that. At least I know I can install it and use it when I need it. Thanks again.

I'm stumped as to why it slows your computer's start-up down. Mine has nothing to do with start-up. It is only activated when I want it to be (double click on the VADIS icon).

My installation did not slow my computer down, either. Ask your techie friend if the application somehow ended up in the start-up menu folder.

Same here . Theres no way it should affect booting unless something has gone badly wrong. As for 8 hours to install . That sounds wrong to me . Where did you get vadis from ? . The only version I can vouch for is the one I downloaded .

Took about an hour to extract and install to my system and I was running the install directly from the disk image I downloaded not an actual dvd .

You will have to turn your windows clock back to 2003 to make it work. Theres a patch for this floating around out there. If I find it again I'll post it up here.
I have downloaded this, but am unable to find any sign-in information with the file. Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Nevermind. I figured it out.

Take this link
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3512164/VADIS_volvo

it's the last version (2005), and you don't have to change back the date on your computer :D

P.S. : Don't look the pictures on the sides if you're under 18.

Thanks Mom! After looking at it carefully, I realized that I had actually downloaded the one in your link after all. I think I have it running correctly now!

Ok, I have it all installed and running just fine now. All of the options are selectable except for the "Vehicle Communication", "Measurement Tools", and "Software Manager" boxes. Is this normal? Should they work? What exactly are they for, and can I get them to work? I logged in as administrator and created a new user. The only thing it will allow me to do as administrator is go into the "System Configuration".

Once you create your own user name and password, you get out of it and then the next time you log in you use the name and password you created and it should all work (except for those 3 things you mention).

The areas you can't access are for when you have the Volvo Scan tool attached to your computer. Unfortunately the tool costs at least a grand used.

Hope this helps.
