Maybe because the odds of someone stealing your factory stereo and looking up the code here is about 1 in 1,000,000,000............

4525 Take the whole car if you want the radio. You could use the grey hair.
My 16 year old daughter's 1996 850 wagon is giving me new grey hairs to complement the space left by the hair that has fallen out....

I own a 1978 Saab GL as well.

I guess my code is:

621121

Went to the dealer, the service guys say it has to be 4 digits, but they cant look up the code "Go talk to the parts guy." they say.
Go to the parts guy, he gives me a 6 digit code and double checks it.. So I go back to the service guys, and they say there's no way it's a 6 digit code..
I guess I'll just wait and see. On hour 2 of waiting for the "Off" to go back to "Cod" (code)

621121 is not my code.. I waited 4 HOURS!!

What the hell am I supposed to do now?! The code is in the volvo database as 621121, and when I put it in, it just sits there with the numbers on the screen, everyone keeps talking about how they enter the code 3 times, or they enter the code and it works. Mine is just a trail of numbers! If I wanted, i could put 62112112121112221112, it just keeps trailing numbers, until I turn it off and on, then it says 'Rpt' on the screen, and if I turn it off and on again twice more, it finally says 'Off' and locks up for four hours.

Spyros:

1. take a deep breath and think of a beautiful, peaceful springtime meadow with bunnies and birds, then
2. pull your radio out and write down the serial number
3. call a different Volvo dealer -- any dealer in the US will work -- and ask for your code based on the serial number

Codes are four digits. Don't ask why they gave you a 4+ digit number, we don't know. Search the forum for how to get your radio out.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

If you call and they say they can't give it out over the phone, it may help to stop by a dealer to prove to them that you didn't steal the radio and have them look it up. Of course, it might just be easier to go and buy a new head unit that doesn't use codes!

Spyros, your code should be the last 4 digits, so 1-1-2-1
