IMO the auto up is a safety no no. I have rolled up a power window on someone's hand before, it was ugly.

I'm going to try to add that door switch again. Maybe next month. I already have switches, just need the know how. I'll check out that link.

Auto up would be dangerous. Think of a kid sticking his head out the window while his little brother fools around with the window switch. A good scream would maybe make the little kid at least let go of the switch. Auto up, the other kid's dead.

I agree, auto up would be dangerous for children. After having this mod for a year or so now, I can say that I have never encountered a point where I said to myself, "I should have put in auto up/downs for the rear windows too." I feel like having auto up/down only for both front windows is sufficient. From a practical standpoint, the rear windows do not go down very far and make a terribly annoying whirling noise if they are open under any speed in excess of 20 mph. As far as safety is concerned, this also keeps operation of the auto windows and monitoring of that operation in the front seats only. Due to the air bags, children under 12 are usually not seated in the front passenger seat anyway, so danger of them getting their hands(or heads) caught in automatic up windows is low. Plus, an adult should be sitting in the drivers seat if the key is on. I still feel that it is a very worthwhile modification even if it is just both fronts with auto down. I am always primarily concerned with safety above all(especially owning a Volvo) and thank you for bringing this to the forum's attention. As always, what people do with their cars is their responsibility but it is better to know all the possible dangers when considering a modification, especially when children are involved.

Auto up always has a current sensing safety feature.
At least every one that I've ever encountered, OEM or A/M.
If it senses the motor having to work harder than it should,
it automatically cuts it off. That's also how it knows that it
got to the top. That's how auto down works, too.

I wouldn't count on that. I almost took a friends finger tips off once. Didn't know his hands were in the window.

The S70's have a auto open on the sun roof. Anyone have a tip on that? Would the relay be added behind the sunroof switch?

I think you missed my point...
Auto up systems have that feature, not all power windows.
A regular power window still depends on the wits of the operator.
