The dashboard mounts are quite fragile and the plastic mounting tabs on the back of the dashboards themselves fall apart. Options include a new dashboard or doing what most do and that's using some kind of metal strap to replicate the plastic that was once there. I'm speaking about the U.S. versions, not sure if yours are different.

For as well as these cars are engineered, I think they failed miserably on the entire dashboard. The dashboard lights burn out, the passenger airbag cover curls up, my dash is lifting above the vents, the mounts break and on top of that these dashboards usually have to pulled at some point in time to fix the AC evaporator! I plan to pull my car out of service and fix all of these issues in six months or so. It's so weird because the rest of the car is built well.

Got my Platinum Wagon about five years ago. Took me about 3 years to track one down with a black interior. Just don't like the Volvo tan. Got mine with 110,000 miles. I'm the second owner. I'm in the middle of a headliner swap right now. Changing it from beige to grey. Recovered the headliner with a light grey material and sourced grey grab handles, sun visors and the like from an S70. The paint on my body looks good, but my front bumper needs to be resprayed. Love my Platinum...may look for a sedan soon.

I love my platinum sedan too, but its time to retire it... Too much work and not enough time. Anybody looking for a platinum sedan in Canada :-) ?
