Best part of this is that satellite dish on top of the grub - so it can auto-inflate when it picks up bad weather signals! Just make sure you're not inside the car pulling codes or something ...jblackburn wrote:Saw this the other day and started laughing. Hey, might work though.

The Hail Protector for cars is a great product to guard against hails (effective against normal to heavy hails), but one has to be careful because the cover has different sizes. It is not a universal fit for all vehicles. Someone bought it and only to realize that the size is not fit for his truck. So, Contact the seller to verify the size first before making a purchase. Or, check out this article for some of the best hail car covers: https://www.fullgleam.com/car-accessori ... ail-cover/erikv11 wrote: ↑10 May 2013, 10:10Best part of this is that satellite dish on top of the grub - so it can auto-inflate when it picks up bad weather signals! even here in the east now. last week hail predicted, so I put the car under a big tree. along came wind gusts and I moved the car quickly out into the open as limbs started coming down. The carpet is a good idea but vey heavy and would blow, put pile side down. you will be a public spectacle as you pull the giant roll out of the trunk. may be this is a business opportunity for an invention. inflatable car cover with hooks attach to the wheels.

I literally saw a guy a few weeks ago during a possible hail storm take a bunch of pool noodles, cut in half and attached together side by side like a raft from bumper to bumper. I thought, "That man is a genius". I have considered making one myself.

My current workplace doesn't have a proper parking lot, so it's a challenge for me too.mercuric wrote: ↑09 Apr 2013, 23:35
Unfortunately my current employer doesn't have a parking garage, just another reason I need a new job...I miss working in a decent office building, stuck in a converted warehouse now. Oh well, it's getting me through this poor job market with a steady paycheck so I really can't whine too much...

Hail is a real issue up here in the summer. We had a huge hailstorm last year and it wrecked houses and many cars with hail up to the size of tennis balls. I'm not sure if anything would really stand up to that other than having the vehicle under cover like in a garage. The garage may get trashed but not the cars. Unfortunately that is not an option for many folks.
I would think a simple structure with plywood (Oh, that is currently $130/sheet of 4' x 8' here). It would break the direct point impact of hail as the plywood is flexible.
Neil.
