i wound my T5 up to 4500+ the other day. it's a totally different animal. if i lived somewhere with paved roads instead of a winding and highly-chaotic pothole matrix, i'd get myself in a lot of trouble.

but i still get to hear that turbo whistle in low-rev, around-town driving, which is nice.

The door locks in the x70 cars are pretty problematic.

I put my HPT 850's auto transmission in D2 in stop-n-go traffic. D1 when it's really slow, stop-n-go. Keeps the boost up and keeps downshifting out of the equation.

Where in NYC can you actually go past 2nd gear? Heck, you're probably mostly STANDING anyway. :o

I think you would be far better off with an automatic. :D
