2 weird things happened today. First my new thermo arrived in the mail today from IPD. I also ordered 2 new bolts (just because) first thing was one of the new bolts snapped just before the head hit the housing. Luckily there was a mm or 2 to grab with a pair of vice grips and back it out. But then I looked at the new PCV system i'd just installed and gave the pipe running from the oilseperator to the port beside the fill cap a really gentle squeeze (just because that's how I figured out the first one was bad). Anyhow it completely separated at what I thought was a fused joint!. So now while I'm left to track down the pressure problem I'm left to wonder if I swapped out one bad PCV for another! And paid for it!

First if you bought a non Volvo kit you wasted your time as many of those hoses are junk
Next, you MUST clean out the port that goes to the oil pan.
If you can't figure out a way (or make up a tool) to pull the junk out towards you, then you have to push it into the pan, remove the oil pan and clean it all out. Replace the O rings at that time and try to put it all back properly.
We had a bad one a few years ago and some of it went down to the pan, so we drained the oil, ran some Karosene through the engine for a few seconds, then drained it all out, filled it back up with oil and it's still running fine 40K miles later!

As for Seafoam, follow the instructions on the bottle.
You can remove the plugs, put a TEASPOON in each plug opening, let sit overnight, install the plugs abd then follow the instructions and run the engine.
It fixed one sticking ring for us, again this was many years ago.

Slow down, you're doing many unnecessary and dumb things here
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

I thought there was a screen in between the oil trap and the pan (which is why I was a little concerned about jamming stuff down the port). I didn't want bits of broken screen popping up throughout the system. I never considered cleaning the port kerosene (this is my first car that doesn't have a check valve). Anyhow, I know I'm trying to do a bunch of stuff all at the same time because there is a very short 'shade tree' season when you live this close to the artic circle, and I'm not offended, but besides buying an off-brand PCV system, (my bad) what do think i've done so far that is dumb?
