2005 will not need: an evaporator, a whole lot of broken dash stuff repaired, RH airbag cover warpage repair, a new battery every 4 years.

Both will need spring seats and some front end bushings.

2005 is a better ride, quieter, colder a/c, better sound system and several other things improved or more modern.
2005 has less module failures (CEM in particular) comparted to 99-2004 P2 models.

Catch can will not be helpful if oil ports are blocked. It can only help with blue smoke from exhaust.

This!

Ac suspension and interior noise im not concerned with.

I do like a firm reassuring suspension and very good heat.
What breaks apart 99-04 to 05+ ?

The P2 models had a major electrical change for 2005. Most relays dumped in favor of transistor power control, this allowed limiting bulbs to 13V for longer life. CEM and REM had complete renovations. Steering wheel module was revised. High speed CAN network (ABS, ECM, TCM [auto trans], DEM, and CEM) had comm speed increased to 500kbps from 250 kbps.

Good explanation. Im not sure if I'd like the 05 steering system.
Obd2 speed has been an aggravation with p80's.
