Hi there,

Thanks, i'll try to remember that.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Hi Matt,

Yeah, ha ha, i was thinking of doing an incremental type calculation where each 'layer' comes off in unit time.
I'll wait for Steve to reply again unless he lost interest :-)

My observation was that it would fill in the minor imperfections on the glass surface. Making the water run off better. The down side was the wipers sticking to the smoother surface, mainly where they changed directions.

The water would blown off the sides very well. It was easier to clean the glass. Also easier to clear off snow and ice.

The only time I had an issue with fogging or the look of a film was when I didn't buff it enough. Hard on the elbows, Karate Kid...
Hi there Robert,

I guess you are up and about already? If so that's great.

Interesting observation there. I'll have to check for the wiper sticking, which now i am afraid that might put a strain on the motor. So far though my driving habits did not overlap with the rain we had gotten recently so i did not yet get to see this stuff in action. I only saw that aftermath one day when i went out there.
Maybe i'll bring a spray bottle out to the car next time and spray some on the windshield just so i can see what it looks like when it rains :-)

Take care now...
Al

Hi again,

Finally got to try out the car in the rain today with the RainX treated windshield, well half of it anyway.
I treated one half and did not treat the other half.

What i noticed right away was on the side that was treated the water appeared in very small beads.
The other side, the water was in larger beads but flatter looking (no treatment).

What else i noticed right off was then i turned the wipers on, the first sweep to the left took off the water on both sides, but when the wipers return to the resting position, on the way down the wiper on the treated side 'dragged' badly as if the window was completely dry. So it was like turning on the wiper with no water on the windshield. So i did see the effect Robert was talking about now. I dont think i like that effect but i'll see how it pans out over several drives.

After a while i think it got better though, as i turned the wipers on and off occasionally, so i will wait to see how it works out over the next weeks.

Take care...

Hi,

I got to see a little effect from the Rain X the other day when i went out. There was snow and ice all over the windshield because the sun does not shine on that part of the car as much as other places, where the ice was already gone. The ice was significant too. I found that on the place that was treated with the Rain X the ice seemed to clear off better. I guess it can not stick to the window as easily as when the window has no treatment.

That's the first main difference i have seen so far. I still have not been able to drive in a good rain yet to see how well it works in that situation.
