I wonder what the buying demographic is on CL? If the car is female market, do you miss it on CL?

College campus maybe a good place to try move it?

I agree with what's been said here but how long has this car been on the market? Two weeks?

A little bit of patience (spring is just starting to ramp up around here) and a more fleshed out ad and some high def. detailed photos will go a long way.

It's an ungodly difficult car to sell. A rattle trap with bad doors and windows and if the top fails, to repair it can cost more than the car is worth.
I can say this we have one in the family, (daughter's). It just sits in the garage, she now lives in NYC but she knows it's worth nothing. 112K mile 2002, cosmetically challenged but highly maintained, ( by me ).
Is this an LPT or a HPT for starters?
What are the options?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked at your "ad".
Take better pictures, CLEAN AND DETAIL the car first. Never take shots on grass, only on pavement. You need more and much better pictures.
List all services done. Was the T belt done? (I sure hope so as it's 3 years overdue)!

Foeget Craigslist, all you get there is nothing, or at beat low ballers.
Autotrader and Cars.com are your best bets.
Spend the money, take GREAT pictures, buy the ad(s) and wait. Both sites will let the ad run indefinitely

OK I am convinced. I will pull all ads. Then in a few days I will rewrite them and take new photos on asphalt, and will place a few ads in places suggested plus craigslist.

Seems like I cut too many corners marketing it because I know what a great car it is. I forgot the sales ABC's... Always Be Closing.

Another thing I'll add to this , and I'm not referring to your car as junk, just a general observation of how buyers see things. A shiny pile of junk with good photos will sell quicker than a nice car that isn't represented as well. Other than a small group of enthusiasts, most buyers are looking at cosmetic condition as a representation of the entire car. I had an Audi for a while, it was a complete crap can, but man it was pretty. Easier to sell than my well kept, super reliable Accord that didn't present as well. Audi sold to a teenage girl, Honda sold to a mechanic father for his teenage daughter, kind of made me chuckle.

We like to assume that because we're knowledgeable, everyone shares that passion. Most people however have clue what they're looking at or what we're talking about. They'd buy a pile of garbage that's cosmetically perfect before they'd buy a well maintained car with a few cosmetic flaws. People are weird.

All that being said, you can buy a lot of car for what you're asking. Not knocking you because I'd pay 5 grand for another v70 if I knew it was as well kept as mine. Easy to find one for 1/3 of that price, but almost all of them are clapped out. You've gotta decide whether the right buyer or money is going to make the car leave.

When we move to LA next year I will be looking at CL for a used, 2004-ish c70 convertible. Been looking and nice ones with 0 issues seem to go for about 3K. Eventually someone should bite at 2-4K. These are very nice cars, have had mine in Europe for 12 years now. At that price point I would not go to ebay but would stick to local market.

Just rambling... I think there is a give and take. Maybe for $2K a car will need tires sooner and an CV axle boot has a tear or its getting ready for a timing belt and components etc ...or something else.... BUT at $4K its all done for you w/ brand new tires and volvo brand stuff. Maybe at $3K the A/C loses its charge in a month and is not cold.... and the PO uses cheap parts... BUT at 4K its ice cold and does not lose its charge and has Volvo parts.
My point...
I also think most people don't want to admit that you get what you pay for. I believe that! Like I use Volvo parts not URO We DIY'ers like to spend $2K or less on a car and fix the can of worms ourselves. That does not mean it is cheaper and does not mean the car for 4K is over priced... - especially if you put value on our time. :?

Oh and take that FOR SALE sign OUT before taking new pictures..
I will say it one more time, the most expensive Volvo you will own is the one you paid next to nothing for.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR (usually)

Took me 3 months to sell my restoration 2001 XC70 with 100K miles. No tire-kickers until I lowered the price down just a little but I listed every single item that I had fitted in point form whether it was a small thing or large thing. I sold on a dedicated car site called CarSales here in Oz. The ad is free unless you choose Premium for around $70 with more photos and greater search options. My ad received 22,500 views with 1,000 detailed views. 25 people saved my vehicle in their watch list. I received 3 personal views of the vehicle at my home.

Is there a dedicated car selling site in the USA? Sounds like CL is more for the cheap end of the market.

My Ad ended like this:

Safety features in this car are only JUST becoming standard in today's vehicles:

EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution)
Front Air Bags
Side Curtain Air Bags
ABS brakes
Traction Control

I can't think of a safer or more reliable vehicle for a first car owner or cost conscious parent looking for a reliable runabout for school pick-ups or long weekend trips in style and comfort.

I've sold 3 Volvos by using this site to take my photos:
