Well that went over like a lead ballon. OK, I will clarify: I was appreciating the irony that those quoted sentences could benefit from remedial English. My comment's sarcasm must not have been evident (even more irony!). Millennials as a group are very, very good at communicating through electronic media, we are barking up the wrong tree to make that generalization.

I did offer an answer on page 1 - I said replace!

Chips may become cracks, cracks may leak spark, ignition may suffer ... with the cap, surface damage is not meaningless. IMHO.

A distributor distributes the ignition discharges from the ignition coil, the cap sorts them to the correct cylinder.
Cap comes from Latin Caput "head". Humans have the capacity to sort things out in their head, hence ... sorting cap.

Acquire his and watch his documentary Religulous.
From there you should be able to figure out why some people want to write him off as a defective sorting cap.
