Bought a used TCM from an '04. Doing the swap this weekend. Fingers crossed this will restore the system connection and let me recalibrate the sensors with my scanner. Otherwise, I think the yaw sensor is next on the list...

The SAS on 05 and later is part of the SWM and no longer has the separate module next to CEM.

Changed TCM under dash today. Still unable to connect to “SAS” to read codes with my ICarsoft scanner and anti skid service still in window. What’s next?

After running scanner:

DEM: no DTC (phew)
SAS: "Failure in communication with vehicle ECU"
ABS: DTC present. "Lateral Accelerometer. Incorrect offset value ABS-0080"

There are no ABS dash lights or OBDII faults. The only dash message in window is the "Anti Skid" warning and the triangle exclamation point.

Is the lateral Accelerometer the yaw sensor under the drivers seat? I absolutely had mis-routed sunroof drain (i've resolved) and lots of water got into floorboards.

side note, just changed to NGK copper plugs and it runs like a totally different car! electrodes on old denso plugs were almost burned away and the gap was HUGE.

I believe the lateral accelerometer is indeed within the yaw sensor. If it's not broken outright, a BCM calibration via VIDA/DICE may put it back to working properly.

The SAS code I cannot help with, although I do indeed suspect if you were to connect the same VIDA/DICE that you'll maybe need to resolve the yaw issue, you might find further detail.

Awesome diagrams, thanks. I'm trying to determine where the lateral accelerometer is in the diagrams (is it the LSM in figure 1?).

I did a recalibration on my Icarsoft scanner (I assume this borrows from VIDA/DICE software). I am able to ru n the calibration, btu it does not seem to resolve the connection issues with SAS system or the ABS lateral accelerometer code.

All things point to the yaw sensor now, so I think I'll just replace it and see what happens then.

I am collecting replacement parts that were not needed!!

is replacement part for the yaw sensor 31110063 8691675?

and is sensor under driver or passenger seat (I've read both on forums)?

again, my car is an '04 xc90 2.5 AWD w/ DSTC

I think it's the 7/164 in the BCM diagram. I believe 31110063 is the correct part number for XC90 chassis (last 6 of VIN) prior to 356815.

excellent, thank you. will be ordering a used one soon

i assume despite being a very movement sensitive part, having a used one that has been removed from a donor car and shipped won't be an issue as it will be recalibrated once installed anyhow?
