What's fair price for a clean 2001 t5 wagon, ~ 140k miles?

If you get the Vin# a dealer may be able to check if the update is recorded to the car

01-02 have the same ETM issues as the 99-00 P80's. Also the trannies have similar issues of being a little weak like the P80's with the 5 speed auto.

Our son has an 06 XC70 P2 and I find the suspension (it has the adjustable shocks) crash over speed bumps and pot holes. My P80's are much nicer riding and that is even when the 'R' is running 225/45/17 tires and Bilstien Tourings up front (slightly harder than standard ) and the correct green stripe Nivo's on the back. The interior is better on his car, but the seats are awful comfort wise compared to a P80.

gmh: Thanks for the link, I read all the reports, it's great that so many owners of Volvos in the 99-02 vintage bracket have had a successful fix with the XeMODeX update. There are also quite a few with ongoing problems after they got the update—that's what concerns me. Even with multiple returns, still problems. I'd hate to be on the road, half way across the country and the engine starts to stumble. Symptoms point to the ETM, then what? I would probably have a spare MAF with me just in case, but if it's the ETM that can be a real trip breaker. Did later Volvos use a different system?

Jim , you have to remember the bias here

That one's gone. It did look pretty and had some good features. I got as far as luke warm and would have taken a close look at it but it was 200 mile round trip. The discussion was helpful though in helping me to think it through. Had it been a manual trans I think I would have jumped on it. Now there's a 2005 V70 for less money and lower miles and closer to me. I need to get over this.

Luck of the draw, I guess. Lots of white and even multiple yellow labeled ones as reported in that thread didn't make it past even low mileage numbers.

Two reasons I've stuck with the 850's to date are I know that make's idiosyncrasies pretty thoroughly and while it has some moderately sophisticated electronics, so far (with the help of MVS!) I've been able to get everything working as designed (except for the suspension—still clunky). But with clear coat problems and paint fade I'm beginning to get fickle.
