You guys bought BMW's? Wow I'm surprised. As I read the list of "features" on them all I see are money signs. Air suspension? That is huge money.

I did drive an i3 and liked it for an electric car.

What are your guys thoughts on the 2008+ V70's? Something like this? I drive very little so am tending to look for higher mileage cars due to the discount.

Haha,

BMW is the best-kept secret.
Personally, I like BMW better b/c it seems to run well and does not have the little problems in Volvo.
BMW is more fun to drive. But the fun stopped in 2006 when BMW switched to electric WP etc.

Get a 2004-2006 X3 or X5 with M54 engine < 100K miles. Great values!

$350 for a water pump? Is that for real? No wonder people just lease the things, the resale value of them must be in the toilet.

The 2006 model used a traditional water pump (belt driven) and for the 2006 model, the prices of water pumps is totally reasonable. (Hepu brand around $50)

In 2007 they went to an electric water pump and the prices went nuts.
They went to an electronic water pump so that the belt driven pump wouldn't sap power from engine as well as allowing the engine computer to vary the speed of the coolant flow independent of the engine RPM.
Very cool idea. Unfortunately they seem to an a problem area and a "simple" water pump now costs < $300.

Spent too many years in FL. Cars are much cheaper in FL as they run hot all the time, get sun beaten and maybe some flooding. This owner did try to use Volvo. Last stop is Reeve Smith Auto Repair Service by the selling dealer. At least they brought it over to a Volvo Specialist to have it checked out before putting it up for sale. Biggest problem is the price difference from Carfax Value.

From Carfax. Never seen this from a dealer. Ran up a curb?

For a light driver you want to buy up in the 200k mileage range where the price really drops. A good compression test Andy a coolant test verifies the engine, one drain and fill on the AT verifies the transmission.

Running a Carfax can give clues to maintenance. Sometimes you see the same trouble being fixed several times or something major. Worst case is no service records.

My son and I took a test drive in a fairly well maintained 2007 S80 V8 last year. C30 then 07 & up S80 then your choice of V70 body are his choices for Volvo. He's too young to remember the 98 S70 T6. My mom's choice is current 03 S80, 98 S70 T5. Approaching 80 (not mph, age) and one ride in the C30 was her last as she had to get in the back seat, dad even older in the front . They purchased a clutch car for the grand kids to learn Manual but they can't and won't ride in it .
