BMW i - A Window into the Near Future.
Nov 16, 2012

The BMW i Window Into The Near Future digitally transforms passing cars into the all-electric BMW i3 and plug-in hybrid BMW i8 Concept vehicles — and showcases our vision for the future of mobility.

The window also calculates how much money would be saved and how many tons of CO2 emissions we can reduce annually if each transformed car were all-electric.

The Mustang Mach-E's extended range battery is a popular option

.
Over 80 percent of people pre-ordering Ford's electric SUV want it.
..
...
Apparently battery life is important to buyers of the sporty electric SUV, with 80 percent opting for versions with the long range battery that lets it go up to an estimated 300 miles between charges.
...
...
The First Edition vehicles are already sold out, but, as Autoblog notes, if you find the Mustang-branded crossover appealing, you can order one with $500 down. You'll have to wait until 2021 for a GT, but other trim levels may ship before the end of this year.

GM will spend $2.2 billion to build electric and autonomous vehicles at Detroit plant

First, an electric pickup truck, followed by Cruise’s recently announced driverless shuttle

Last week, GM-subsidiary Cruise unveiled the Origin, its first self-driving car without a steering wheel or pedals. At the time, the company’s CEO Dan Ammann promised to reveal production details in the days to come. Well, today’s the day, with GM announcing plans to spend $2.2 billion to retrofit its Detroit-Hamtramck plant for the production of autonomous and electric vehicles.

In addition to the Origin, the facility will also produce all-electric SUVs and pickup trucks. The automaker plans to release 20 electric nameplates by 2023, the first of which will be an electric truck slated to go into production in 2021. This will be followed “soon after” by the Cruise Origin, a shared, electric, self-driving vehicle unveiled in San Francisco last week. Detroit-Hamtramck will be GM’s first “fully-dedicated” electric vehicle assembly plant, the company said. (The news was first reported by The Detroit News last week.)

Hummer EV will debut in Super Bowl ad with LeBron James
...
...
It's important to note GM isn't bringing back Hummer as a full-on brand, it's reviving Hummer as a model nameplate. The GMC Hummer EV, as it'll be known, will be an all-electric pickup truck, a model presumably to be sold through GM's existing GMC dealers.

The Hummer EV will be revealed in full on May 20, but GM is already touting ridiculous performance stats in this buzz clip for its 30-second spot. How ridiculous? Try 1,000 horsepower and 0-to-60 mph in 3 seconds. Every good action hero needs an arch nemesis, right? Perhaps you remember those gaudy numbers Elon Musk talked about when he rolled out the Tesla Cybertruck? GM certainly seems to.

GM stock gains after company reveals its $20 billion electric-car plan

General Motors Co. plans to spend $20 billion over the next five years selling more electric vehicles were well Wall Street on Wednesday, with the car marker’s stock adding to gains.
...
GM Chief Executive Mary Barra vowed to “dramatically” change the future of GM and “put everyone in an EV.”

“We believe climate change is real,” Barra said. “We have the ability and the responsibility to create a cleaner planet” and offer car buyers a slew of electric-powered vehicles in all body styles, prices, and to dealerships across the U.S., she said.

The program is expected to be profitable from its start and also includes selling EVs to rideshare providers, Barra said.
