Maybe VTL can go into further detail on that. I’ve read about it too, but I went ahead & tried it on all 4 of our P2’s and it worked on every single one. In no way am I disagreeing with VTL, just saying I have not run into that experience with any of our cars. That, and I’ve never seen him be wrong about anything. Maybe this accessibility varies on the part of the country the car was last seen by a dealer in.

I also didn’t load any user customizable software, just the free ViDA software that comes with the DiCE unit. Under my ownership none of our cars have been to the dealership. So, unless it was added by a dealer prior to me purchasing any of them, I have no knowledge of any of them having the additional software.

Yours may have one - my first, now wrecked XC70 had it. Can only be verified with DiCE/VIDA.

I was reading something about a programming change that was enacted with the newer P2’s saying that the cars 2005 and after had different programming/allowances for the DIY’er to make changes. This could stand to reason, as your 02 was with & your 05 was without. Maybe Rick or one of the other ViDA experts could chime in.

02 had it, 05 had it, another 05 - had not. Need a software download.

Donor 05 was produced only 167 XC70s later then the one I crashed :)

I don't mind low beams as DRL.

Guys, sorry for my "French", but yours messages confused me )) What are you discussing about?
Lets separate all terms and options:
1. First at all there is configuration file in the car. When modules communicate between each other they use this configuration info for understand how to work on current car. For example: on my car option "Automatic dipped headlights" has a value - "Standard dipped headlight adjustable" and my system "understand" if I turn switch to OFF position, it should break power to headlights. Same time, if I turn switch to P position, it will on parking lights ONLY! Also, if I turn switch to On position, it will get power to headlights.
In other case, similar car option "Automatic dipped headlights" has other value - "Always dipped headlight except in position P", in this case if I turn switch to OFF position, headlights should work like DRL (use sensor or no).
2. For most cars customer can change value for this option itself use VIDA, but exactly for 2005MY it locked for change (we can unlock it actually).
3. About Fog lights same story, if option "Foglights front" has value "No" - system will not "see" your attempts to install and use Front fog lights button.

No. The dealer finally turned them off last year and now I have all external lights off in position off and no error messages. I didn't think to tell them I wanted the dash lights off too when off. The mechanic grumbled at me because apparently there are many choices. It only took 16 years to finally get them to give in and do it. June
