I just got word my insurer will refund my premiums for some period of time. Allstate is publicly saying this, too.

Hold off on those revisions - you might do even better

Doubtful. I don't use a major national insurer.

Speaking of driving mileage, I have been driving the '95 much more than I want. I have to support all the work at home folks in a financial and insurance. I usually ride the train, but the schedule has been cut back and it's a little weird riding with all those people now. The Honda needs some work (clunking on takeoff and shifting--I think it's an engine and/or transmission mount problem, and it looks like a rough job that I'm not sure I want to do, especially if that's not really the problem). So I'm driving the 960. I'm putting 40 miles commute day now on a car that has averaged less than 5,000 a year for the last three.

As far as insurance goes, when I talked to my agent a number of years ago because I was only driving 8-10k on the Honda a year, he said I had to get to under 3k a year to get a discount. Of course, that's not now.

Not exactly shocking article. I'm guessing parts prices may rise due to curtailed production and a disrupted supply chain. Also, as more people are without work and have time on their hands, they may start attempting to do their own repairs. I'd expect parts prices to increase over the coming months.

Buyers can get a deal on new, used cars — but it won't last long

If you're considering a new or used car purchase, now may be the time to get a killer deal as the auto industry creeps out of the coronavirus shutdown and ramps up in the next month or so, industry experts say.

That's the good news.

The bad news: If you have a car to trade in, you won't get as much for it. Wholesale used car values have plummeted and likely won't fully recover until later this year.
================================

Used-car market in ‘strange moment' - Retail used-vehicle sales and wholesale auction volumes have plunged. Vehicle values are down significantly in the span of just a few weeks. It's left dealers wrestling with how to handle trade-ins and at what volumes to stock their lots in the coming weeks.

With Hertz going under and selling their fleet, it seems like that would create even more supply to push down prices.

So with summer almost over, do we have any final thoughts? Statistically there was alot of writing about how hot the used car market was and that prices went up. Especially after like May.

Anecdotally I feel like I saw a decent amount of project cars for sale for a loss by the owner, but that might not be all that unique.
