I like Grayson. And I like your little farmyard of tolerant animals.

We lost Puma (the Duke) when the boys were fairly young. He was tough. No dawgs came near our house. He had scars. He had lived a hard early life out in the trees we think, and he essentially adopted us and was glued to us. Never left our lot, yowled when we went off on a walk. Had a huge vocabulary and you could tell exactly how he felt or what he needed.

We lost our son's beloved Griffon, Winston, at 4 years old last December. Enlarged heart they think. It was very hard on all of us, as he stayed home with me when my son was off at med school. He was smart and sweet and kind and so attached to us all. He would look you right in the eye and just look at you. A Brillo pad with legs, a shaggy beast. He was so fast, he could just run and run. We called it joyous running. Our D-I-L always had him in a scarf, because he was a snappy dresser, and because mean dogs don't wear scarves. Little kids know that.

He lived a great life.

Olive and her cousin Milo have been here for quite a few years. They both needed homes from the shelter, and we couldn't decide! There are times of cooperation. He chums up with dogs, she says NOPE. It's true about Blues - they're muscular, quick, attached, and loyal.

They lay on my desk and in my lap and make it difficult to get anything done.

Milo tells me, "I don't get dressed up for just anybody!"

Well there is nice non-ending to this.

Our yellow dog Shep-Husk mix missed her little Grayson terribly and has been getting us up at night lonely and sad. I’ve been sleeping on the couch downstairs because SWMBO needs her rest- she is front line on COVID and is stilL working.

This week Maddie suddenly is sleeping through again, because the Black cat gets up and goes downstairs to sleep with her when she whines.

Beautiful mauve paws on Olive. I still miss him terribly but the good memories are winning and beating the sadness away every day

I takes a while. I used to wake up regularly, running with this 70lb dog in my arms and he's limp and I don't know how to save him. It was my job to take care of him during the day and make sure nothing happened to him. I still can't go near that end of the park.

My girls think it’s hilarious that two Volvo guys have a matched set of cats.

Well I woke up yesterday to find one of my two cats ( JoJo ) died during the night. I had been her guardian for 12 years. She had been diagnosed with a build up of fluid which put pressure on her heart. Apparently nothing could be done to save her. The last day was very hard to deal with; take her in to the animal hospital with all the stress and fear that that would bring her, or let her die at home where she would feel more comfortable. I chose home, but I guess that will be another one of those crappy things in life that I will always wonder about. My Russian Blue( nod to abscate ), Ashley, of 17 years passed away about a year ago as well. Got to say that even at my age, and having seen more than my share of death, loosing my furry friends hits so very very hard every time.
Luckily I still have my Manx ( JoJo's brother Bobbie ) and my dogs. Still it always feels like loosing a family member, which they are.
Sorry to be a downer, but I guess I just needed to let some of it out somewhere. Maybe a long drive is in order...

Very sorry to hear of your loss of Jojo, Sveedy (and abscate's loss of Grayson.)

This is terrible! All these babies dying! Munchy just got his cast off recently. Knee repair is not fun! So now it's been neck surgery in 2017 and now the knee 2020. I just couldn't loose him. My heart goes out to you guys! June
