Abscate:

I had a crank no-start condition on my 99 V70 XC concurrent with a fuel pump issue last year.

Pretty pedestrian compared to some of the other suggestions, but are you able to swap out a known good antenna ring (fits around the ignition key) for the one in the car with the crank no-start condition? I believe that the engine will crank, but ignition will not fire with a bad antenna ring.

Just a thought....

Well, they have a lot to be depressed about... less and less MT cars here in the US! And the "MT" that are being made are these clutchless pieces of crap!

Time to go old school. Pull No. 1 plug and turn crank to get top dead center. Pressure (or vacuum) the cylinder to confirm all valves are closed (ignition cycle position). Confirm the distributor is pointing to the No. 1 plug.
