Just want to comment that I tried the Nulaxy Bluetooth 5.0 FM Transmitter for Car, QC3.0 & Type-C PD 18W Wireless Bluetooth Radio Adapter Music Player/Car Kit with Hands-Free Calls, Siri Google Assistant, Bass Booster – NX12, after reading about it in this thread. Currently using it in my 1998 V70. I am very happy with the sound quality connected through a SC900 head unit.

It does really work well. My only challenge was finding a quiet spot on the FM dial. After that the blue tooth pairing on a Galaxy 9 Note worked easily. I like the rotating knob at the top for jumping forward or backward on my playlist using the blue tooth connection to the phone. For the 15 dollars I am going to buy a second one for my other S70

Would you mind doing a test with that Nulaxy bluetooth receiver? Put a CD in the head unit's CD player and play something. Then play the identical track on your phone through the xmitter and compare quality.

How do they compare? Especially interested in songs with a lot of bass.

And I'm jealous of your SC900!

Now getting reading to be successful (or much more clear) but i think there is conflicting information of the MBUS i have here. I have slightly difference in message lengths which is kinda annoying for to compare collected or shared info of these.

They say bit length is 3ms but it isn't for me exactly so i am not following it at all at this point. There is slight variety of lengths in all bits(falling edge and raising edge) inside messages player sends when click CHGR -button.

But i think i got now finally communication work in one way. Next to command as i found my ping pong message... Need to try reply to it.

Awesome. I have an arduino ready for any testing, though I've never done packet sniffing.

Well I picked up that Nulaxy bluetooth receiver / radio xmitter / swissarmy knife:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082YWZ77X

It's a neat little gizmo with a lot of functionality, but it fails horribly in a sound test with the direct line in method. There's *much* less punch, there's a lot of background hiss, and it just generally sounds thin and distant by comparison.

Which is about what I was expecting, those radio xmitter things never sound as good as a direct connection.

It's got a ton of features: it displays battery voltage, has a USB C port for fast charging, a USB A port for slow charging, yet another USB port for a thumbdrive or maybe an ipod, and probably 20 other things I haven't discovered yet. Sure would be nice if it had an 1/8" audio output jack so I could use it with the line in... Seems so obvious, and so many cars have an aux in jack but no bluetooth. Oh well.

wrybread wrote: 10 Feb 2021, 16:08 I just did the line in mod to my sc-815, and it sounds very distorted. And on my previous car I never had any luck doing it with the sc-816.

I used the instructions here, connecting to the rear of the tapedeck on my sc-815:

http://atthetipwebs.com/technologyinstr ... eo_mod.htm

And interestingly my phone doesn't detect that it's connected to a stereo and doesn't enable it's output. That's true with both the sc-815 and sc-816. And devices that do work with it sound absolutely terrible.

I triple checked my work, there's no solder bridges, I used two different cables (one a shielded rca), but still no joy.

Stumped.
Your best bet might be this. It's AMAZING. You'll need to adjust the equalizer on your phone because sound quality goes down by 10% or so. But its nifty! Love it! This is on ebay but you might find it on Amazon too. I got this for my 96 960 because the CD changer quit working. Use the aux like you would with a modern stereo.

Yatour is what i am trying replicate kinda and if i can send some custom messages and command my phone music player through radio next and previous buttons like super lazy person i want to be (actually just too poor to buy ready solutions).

Now last time i wrote i was trying read i almost got it so i wrote about it.. but exactly after writing i lost signal like an idiot and got garbage too much (glitching) and i did refine all i had but i didn't got same signal back from radio so i gave up after headache.

Today now i look through connections on radio PCB i noticed that i need push DATA.G to Ground to have CLEAR messages flying and i am now back to action better than before. I get now clear Ping messages and no any rubbish at all like last time. I get even checksums right spot on. It is Mbus on these olders.. Not Melbus to be exact.

Back to having fun. Soon™ finished project.

Update:

P.S. I included more details in my project thread about this. Works so far well.
