Dealing with fading clearcoat on 850s

But Rick, even if you found a graphic you like you clearly can't convey/accept what it means! This is ridiculous.

You should of figured out a long time ago that you cannot beat me down and domineer me with your insults and ad hominems. It does not bother me because, it shows your nature not mine. If you want to show everybody what you are really made of ... by all means go right ahead. I won't stop you, somebody else might but, not me.

I know you think it's about ad hominems and winning and insults, but i'm more interested in counting the peeling clear coats and what ubqiuitous means. That's it.

I learned a new word today: ubiquitous

I'm going to counter with "sesquicentennial".

Also, it says "I would have" instead of "would of"
That weird would of popped up some 15 years ago and never left the internet.

OK, OK you guys. Here's a paint post -

I'm under the impression that my 1994 850 was the last year Volvo used single stage paint rather than base/clear. Is that true? Mine is red, trying to turn orange, and when you buff it the rag is red. A decent clearcoat car will not turn the rag any color - you're polishing the clear layer.

Now my A4 Audi is a 2001, with a complicated deep blue mica paint with clear coat, and the roof is chipping and peeling all over. It's a mess. I'm really disappointed with it.

I thought some of the colors, and red was one of them, were still single stage.

Body and paint guys: Is #1 the single stage?

This is the fifth digit in a five digit Volvo paint code, XXX-XX

The fifth digit represents the type of paint and the kind of finish that has been used:

1 – a solvent based paint or metallic paint.
2 – a waterbased paint with metallic or pearl finish.
3 – a solid waterbased paint with only varnish (non-metallic).
4 – a solvent-based paint with varnish (non-metallic).
5 – a solvent-based paint with a pearl finish and varnish.
6 – a waterbased paint and 2-component varnish.
7 – a waterbased paint and a powder-varnish.

Well I have the same year as OP and mine is two stage. I thought by the '90s most all manufactures were using it.
If by " varnish " they mean clear coat, then I'd guess #4 for what I have.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.
