Actually it is spelled Toronado I think. And I said in a previous comment that GM can take the Toronado and stuff it iykwim. GM can slide off a cliff for all I care. They certainly dont care.

Is the tornado a legit name. It is related to Oklahoma red tornados which are loud, which of course my red v70 is kinda loud. the windshield rim is messy. But im questioning the legitimacy of that name.

The second welcome to the team I have a read 98 v70. There's also another dude on here who lives in the US up in Massachusetts, his name is Shane, and we call our little team the Red wagon squadron.

I guess I don't have a name for mine I just call it the volvo. But a name that stuck in my head when reading this thread for your red V70......is...

LOL Thank you for your idea. That is a very nice red. That other car you captured is nearly my favorite! The 9 series sedan in Blackberry. Mmmmmm! Make it a wagon and I am sold! Refer to my ^response to Sufbug^. I know its not a weather related name but...what about The Raspberry? Its goofy but fits because its red, and parts of it are kinda not so great like when a raspberry starts to soften a bunch. Zonda R is nice but complicated. I am weird but anvil and squall are too weird. Suddenly Im trying to call my car The Raspberry and its too funny. But I like it. I saw Sufbug's pic of the purple 9 series and wondered 'is the color really black currant?'. I searched and its Blackberry. That made me think 'raspberry'. That might be it.

While I am on here, I have a confession. I am increasingly finding that I would have rather bought another 9 series. I was too impatient that I had to buy this. I might sell the Honda at some point to get a 9 series wagon. Not sure.

I am not going to tell anyone that my car's name is the Raspberry, although the name is enticing. I think Zonda R is great. I have to think about that after saying 'My car's name is Zonda R' several times as if Im talking to someone. Ill post an update later today.

Seems like a lot of brain power being spent on trying to force a name for a car you may not want to keep.

Personally, I never name my cars. Haven't since the I started driving in the mid '80's. They were "The blue one", "The TBird", The truck", etc. Some of my cars have received names organically or been given nicknames by other people, however.

I had an '85 244 GLTIC that was a charcoal grey color and all the chrome/trim was black. the windows were also HEAVILY tinted by a previous owner. It was known as "The Swedish Mafia car".

I had a mustard yellow '77 242. My ex-gf and a few others referred to it as "Colonel Mustard".

The last "named" car I had was an '80 264GLE. Someone had made some snide remark about it being a Volvo by commenting with "vulva?". To which one of my good friends responded with "...Mulva?". If you watched Seinfeld, you know the rest. The car's name became officially "Delores". The current owner still refers to it as such.

My current '78 264GLE is just referred to as "Delores's older sister".

My wife has named her '97 855 GLT "Turbo MomCar™" (Even has it's own theme song).
