Re: 1996 850 Wagon Service Light On
Has anyone found the yellow wire on the diagram yet? It has to be something special

We finished the battery drain repair back in 2019 and I hope that I'm remembering this correctly.
Snipping the yellow wire caused the check engine light to come on so we soldered it back.
We found out that it goes to the SAS system and that the motor is stuck on. The controller
has a plug for the motor that we disconnected which did not cause check engine but does
stop the high current drain.

Now, today we are getting a P410 code supplemental air system, I have to dig into this.
EDIT: I cleared the code, it came back, and now it is gone again. Maybe they mistook the service light for the check engine light.
EDIT2: P0410 is back again.

It seems that our car first had the SAS motor fail (stuck), added the diode and fault cleared.
Then the battery started going dead and we traced it to the yellow wire that feeds the SAS,
so the conclusion was that the relay was stuck on feeding power to the motor with it frozen.
Pulled the relay and the ECU seems to monitor that so the P0410 came back. Pulled the
plug for the motor and that solved the battery drain without a code.
Now many months later the P0410 code came back, have not had a chance to check
wires and connectors but cleared the code and it came back again a half hour later.

Are you sure the diode is still ok? Should be I know but ...
I guess the relay could be further deteriorated and somehow tripping a code, that may be more likely.

The car has been running fine and now has over 200K miles.
The turn signal cover on the front drivers side fell off it seems as there is no sign
of hitting anything.
Anyone one have a spare?
The drivers side sun visor is also shot, also looking for a spare.
Thanks everyone!

98 (x70) turn signal cover will not fit a 96 (850).
Not sure about the visor, there is a chance it will fit.
