430 km of highway at night, with exhaust valve burned off, no problem. The engine even have had some decent power. Cat is not damaged.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Maybe 500 miles or so.
I'm not too worried about the cat, he goes to the vet next week for his checkup.

Most of my misfiring and stumbling was at idle and rpms under about 2500, if I kept the revs above 2500rpm it had plenty of power with only a slight hiccup when accelerating from a closed throttle position.
With it to the floor it ran fine, but I don't think the transmission liked it too well. I have a warped brake rotor which doesn't feel all that great when slowing down from 80 or 90mph, so I usually keep it under 70mph when going out of town (the few times I do), and under 45mph driving around town.

Did it ever throw a code? I had a stumble/hesitation at cruising highway speeds about 60mph for years, but a new throttle body fixed that (among many other symptoms I had). Finally it threw a code.

Yeah, #5 misfire. I changed plugs back to a set of factory plugs hoping that would fix it, but it didn't so I replaced the coils.
I would've fixed it sooner if my laptop hadn't broken. Got a used laptop, set it all up, and now I can run proper diagnostics with VIDA/DiCE.

I tend to go off instantaneous DIM as it seem more accurate to a hand calculation at fillup than the avg on the DIM. Easy to see impact of speed changes that way too.
Seems 65mph is the real tipping point on my S60, below that and it drops off.

28mpg on an XC70 sounds pretty good given the higher profile for wind resistance and extra AWD weight.vtl wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 06:17 14.1 MPG right now (short trips, always cold, suburbs driving). Toyota Tundra on AT tires is only 1 MPG less, ouch.
Got 28 MPG in XC70 rolling MA->FL, with MMO in every tank fill, yesIt didn't cure my old worn valve stem seals, so the engine blew up the exhaust valve shortly after. That taught me paying attention to oil consumption and calcium content in oil (calcium deposits break off, chunks are caught between valve face and valve seat).
Seen P2 with tank-average 30 MPG only once, in N/A 02 V70.
The short trips definitely make a difference. My Nissan Frontier is pretty terrible in the winter when cold, the ECU tends to run it really rich til warm and can see it on the instantaneous MPG readout.

I haven't found anywhere that shows mpg on the DIM of my 2001 S60. Am I missing something?

My 2002 has it but that car is well optioned. Maybe it was in a particular option package in 2001?
