It has been running well but needs the rear brakes again, no problem if it was just pads but
it seems that the caliper piston is frozen. I suppose that I need to remove the caliper so that
I can put a clamp on the stuck piston and see if it will retract.
Any other ideas? I really don't feel like doing calipers again, though I should get a free one
from FCP.

Rears tend to be more of an issue in areas where salt is used. Quality of re-man'd calipers is very variable in terms of the parts used especially the pistons. Fluid change is also something many neglect. Every 3 years max.

Rear brakes don't work as hard, and in over 45 years of Volvo ownership rears have been an issue since they introduced rear rotors around the 140 series in the 60's. 240 were really bad.

Those cheap Cardone Centric Autozone Pep Boys calipers are using pot metal pistons which will rust in place in 2-3 years in moist climates.

The Volvo ones last 15 years. You have to decide how many brake jobs are worth the price delta

I always hated putting in Cardone because I had the feeling that they were crap.
Original Volvo prices are down, but I'm not sure if we'll keep the car for many more years.
A free one will go in, then we'll see.

That raised a hew and cry from owners that caused Volvo to relent a bit and make it go off automatically on the S70s after the engine had run for about 30 seconds. When I removed my instrument cluster to replace the odometer gear, I yanked that bulb out.

Car is running fine. Thanks again everyone!
Driver's side mirror got smashed. Ebay ads say that one from an S70 will fit can anyone confirm this?

We finally put the drivers side door replacement on. It went smoothly and seems to work well. The only
thing is that the door creaks loudly due to the link that limits the distance of travel not sure what you call
that part or how to fix the creak. We greased it in the door but it looks like another part goes into the body
of the car, perhaps that needs some grease also.

I am having issue with a driver's door creak on a friends car. I swapped in a used one I had as the original had fallen into several pieces. Since then have had issues with the Torx bolt coming loose twice even though tightened and permetex thread locker.

Got to thing that either the used part is faulty or the there is a problem with flexing on the 'A"' pillar mount that is making the Torx bolt loosen off.

I have ordered a new part and will investigate further.

Creaks and groans are often caused by the limit strap starting to break up.

The car is black, thanks very much!
If you still want the old doors they are yours, window motors and locks work, glass is good.
Great about your drive! Name a day and time!
Thanks again, Pete
