1979 round headlight 245 turbo - I don't think there was a turbo in 1979, this must be a swap. It appears to be intercooled though.
Manual with big clutch! / hot roddy parts installed / IPD sway bars and springs / 229K miles / $5000

Looks pretty sharp really. Sits just right. I'm voting yes.

Another '79 245 in ambulance white. I think this is the guy who for years has been scooping up 240's, cleaning them up, and posting for sometimes ridiculous dollars. For some reason his ads are in the Los Angeles CL but I don't see them on Portland. He has some others listed as well.

2016 XC70 T5 / auto of course / 132k miles / $17,000

I really dig this brown bronze, but not the light cream interior. It says "color: custom"...hmm. It was hit, or someone changed the color for fun? Is that the 5 cylinder, or something newer?

Do we trust these newer Fordish Volvos?

That is certainly a 5 cylinder. I didn't know they offered those in the XC70, I thought these went straight to the 2.0L time bombs.

I wrote to them - they say it was a special order color from new. One-owner, minor scratches.


On the Eugene turbo wagon - I learned it is a B21FT turbo swap, LH2.2 computers and a Dave Barton harness. Other bits from 740T and 940T engines - factory intercooler etc. New KL Racing intercooler available for additional.

Seems like a nice car.

I think it's something like java metallic... or java something. I've seen it on XC60s and it looks awesome on those. Pretty rare color.

Interior is crazy clean. Listed as a charity donation, but this looks like it was somebodies family cruiser.

I was told not to trust the P3 platform by a senior mechanic I know and trust. Although I am tempted by this last gasp XC70 T5, but I get mixed info if it is the 5 cylinder or the newer 4 cylinder used the in V60. If it is I am not sure about this as an option. Too much Ford in that engine. I do like the color and the look of the car. Cream interior not so much!

You should trust that senior mechanic! I had my eyes on a 2010 XC60 with 100K miles a couple years back and the owner indicated the start of oil consumption, otherwise it looked excellent. Volvo continues to extend warranties and do Good Will on these cars with low mileage. A rebuild usually includes new pistons and ring or entire engine is the block is damage. Both 5 & 4 cylinders.

That particular XC70 has the 2.5L 5 cylinder, which like I said, I didn't know until now that it was offered in the XC70 (or S80, which may have also had it now that I see this). These did have oil consumption issues, which I also didn't know until recently, I figured that was only the Drive E 2.0L that had those problems. Those earlier 4 cylinders are REALLY bad oil burners. I guess Volvo switched up the rings on the later white blocks as well to gain efficiency... didn't quite work well.

Anyway, these are just RNC white blocks, so just like any other P2 or early P3. Pretty solid engines.
