Been driving SWMBO acura for a few days. Its nice and fast but i wanted to flush the power steering reservoir as it seems to be contaminated (concerning as i fully flushed it at the end of october, but ill give it another shot). Outside of that it drives reliably as a honda should.

Will do a flush on the s60 soon, it looks like volvo may retail power steering fluid at the lowest price??? up here its 70$ for the chf stuff and volvo says they sell a litre at 40$? will call a dealership tomorrow.

Power steering fluid is truly one of those things that doesn't really matter as long as it's compatible. Use to put only Honda PS fluid in our Hondas and Acuras. Our 03 Odyssey currently has Havoline and other stuff mixed in. As a matter of fact the hose have stop getting damp after using this and ATP205. Didn't bother to do a flush but rather turkey baster the reservoir empty, fill and run till fluid is dark, pretty quickly and repeat once or twice depending how dirty it is. Just do this every two years or so and it's not a problem. Have use it in all the cars thus far.
.
Have gone through 4 cases doing transmission flushes and PS fluid replacement on Honda, Lexus & Volvo.

Cutting zip ties annoys the cheap Brit in me, so I use a dental pick to release the tab so I can reuse them. I get the dental picks for free at the hygienist when she looks the other way

Thanks for that. Since the flush the steering is still much much better (better than my S60 :P) but i want to give it one more go as her car seems to benefit from multiple cleanouts. Since we have received the vehicle all the fluids sans the coolant have been changed, and we are aiming for one more drain and fill on the transmission. It does not drive like a 320k km car, and yearly applications of rustproofing should see another 3 - 4 years out of it. The only downside is it is a barbarian with fuel, but its AWD system and ground clearance mean that she will never get stuck. She drives into 1-2 ft of snow like its nothing (something i bet the xc90 would do if i could justify it).

I get the valovine Honda stuff as its 14$ a Litre which is much better than crappy tire or the OEM acura fluid.

I think there may be a bit of degradation of one of the hoses after changing the pump (pressure boost) but i see no leak and the fluid does not look any dirtier than before i drove the car 150km so fingers crossed this last flush gets it.

Then i can have my volvo back :P

PS fluid on my partners acura looked terrible, was black and shiny... hoping no damage was done as the racks on these cars are pretty resilient. The pump seems to be fine and the steering still better than before so i think we are good. Worst case i buy another 250$ pump if this one dies early due to contamination. Changed it out and stuck a magnet in the reservoir to try and capture any metal particles. Put 20km on it and the fluid has not gone bad so i suspect i got all the contaminants out when compared to the last time. Brake clean bathed the front rotors and that seems to have solved a low speed grinding sound. Cant wait to get back into my S60 once all this work is done. Last step is to grease a brake pedal and HVAC motor tomorrow and she should be good.

A turbo, tires and interior cleaning hopefully before years end and the Project 2006 S60 2.T will be on the road. I set out to do that over a year ago  :( .

Installed a headlight wiper motor that I rebuilt and new wipers, while the bumper was off I replaced a fog light that had smashed and repainted the wiper arms. Both items are good to have on hand as junkyard spares. The IPD house brand wipers fit well but only last about 6 months. I guess I'll spring for the expensive Volvo ones next time and see how long they last and see if its worth it. Went for a good drive in the fresh snow and marvelled at how well the AWD and Michelin X-ice's handle slick roads!

Last night I decided to drop the undertray to check if my leaky turbo was cured and I'm pleased to say it's all nice and dry

When I reviewed the above image on the computer I thought the hose connecting the turbo to the charge pipe looked a little squint and dug out a picture I had taken earlier in the year when I changed the hose. Sure enough something wasn't right.

So this morning I decided to have a closer look at it. When I removed the hose it was obvious the charge pipe has went a bit skew-whiff as it wasn't lining up with the turbo. With a gentle heat from a hot air gun being careful not to get it too warm I reshaped it back to its correct position. I'm unsure if the charge pipe will have any 'memory' during heating/cooling cycles so will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks to ensure it doesn't go out of line again.
